24/11/2022 10:50 | [Podcast] CITY OF LONDON INVESTMENT With Mark Atkinson And Maynard Paton #CLIG
Another podcast with my good friend Mark Atkinson. We discussed City of London Investment and my recent share purchase, my AGM attendance and the share's 9% dividend yield: Maynard | tmfmayn
20/11/2022 11:18 | Solid profits in tough markets Underlying profit before tax rose 4%, to £27.9m, while underlying EPS (on City of London’s basis) declined 9%, to 44.2p. Cash conversion, as usual, remained excellent, at 108% of underlying profit, while the cash balance remained very strong, at £22.7m, as well as £7.4m of seed investments. | masurenguy
08/11/2022 13:46 | To me that means going higher if one market maker bidding for stock. | montyhedge
08/11/2022 10:31 | That's the closest I've seen the spread for some time 387-389p - almost 'normal' | skinny
07/11/2022 10:51 | I dont think they track the s&p it would be like apples and oranges. Surely nobody who is high net worth would invest in EM thinking it will be a smooth ride. | stpalm
07/11/2022 00:01 | Interesting: Whether Mr Karpus is satisfied with CLIG's all-round progress since the merger is not clear. Maybe Mr Karpus is just the person to challenge any "entrenched orthodoxy" at CLIM regarding its EM performance versus the S&P 500. | my retirement fund
06/11/2022 14:36 | CITY OF LONDON INVESTMENT: H2 2022 Profit Drops 20% And FuM Slides To $8.5b Although Yield Now Tops 8% And Run Of Net Inflows Extends To 4 Quarters #CLIG "CLIG did not make clear whether clients expect to underperform the S&P 500." | tmfmayn
03/11/2022 14:19 | mh, ms is a holder (Shareprophets authors must reveal holdings when writing). I guess the only negative part was the fact that funds had diminished, the spin was clearly that being clever, they had not lost more? Clever set of people etc... You must read into that as you wish. Some months back I chose two shares to invest in (I had done research), but I lack at times. CLIG was one (Divi), WATR the other (no divi). Even though I've had to support holding of CLIG shares, £595 divi will do for now. Will try harder next term! I'm bailing most of portfolio, but will retain CLIG & WATR. Take care | dudishes
03/11/2022 13:33 | One thing the lower the pound, helps profits. | montyhedge
03/11/2022 13:08 | mh, think yourself lucky it wasn't written by Tim! cheers | dudishes
03/11/2022 12:55 | Dudishes Lol, I wish he did not write that article until next week, looks like my dividend reinvestment going to cost more tomorrow. | montyhedge
03/11/2022 09:59 | G'day, Divi time tomorrow. To lucky kids, 9%, to me 2.44%. Yes. could do worse. Will stick with it for now. cheers | dudishes
02/11/2022 17:58 | G'day, Plugged on shareprophets today by Malcolm Stacey. He thinks underpriced. I averaged down (rare event for me), still underwater but almost double divi, so no damage done. I think I was attracted by the divi! cheers | dudishes
02/11/2022 16:20 | Dividend reinvestment Friday for me, dividend compounding in an ISA, eight wonder of the world according to Einstein, lol. | montyhedge
31/10/2022 16:38 | All resolutions passed at the AGM, nice 22p dividend paid 4th November, that was passed 100%. | montyhedge
28/10/2022 16:12 | CLIG announces that the Company's Employee Benefit Trust purchased 82,746 ordinary shares of 1p each on 26 October 2022 at a price of £3.50 per share. Following these purchases, the Trust holds 1,773,258 ordinary shares in the Company representing 3.5% of the Company's issued capital, of which 1,011,398 (2.0% of the Company's issued capital) is held in custody for employees under the terms of the Employee Incentive Plan (EIP). | masurenguy
21/10/2022 17:15 | Nice moves 2wild. | robsy2
21/10/2022 16:48 | Sold out at 505p on ex-dividend day 6 months ago. Back in today at 345p, on 9.5% dividend yield, excluding specials. No idea where the bottom is, so will gradually average in over next few months. | 2wild
21/10/2022 13:11 | I see rns today giving us a choice of dividend in sterling 22p or in US dollars 24.7c. | montyhedge
21/10/2022 11:19 | Filtered, a idiot who can’t talk about a stock only about other posters. | montyhedge
21/10/2022 10:48 | Hi Melton John - I agree with your philosophy in this context. I did reduce my position at circa 450p some 6 months ago but have started adding back today at under 350p. The dividend should remain fairly solid here and sterling weakness should enhance margins. Good luck. | masurenguy |
