Good price you were in at. Can't complain all the dividends we have received another 22p couple of weeks time.

Masurenguy, I see you started this thread in 2010. That says a lot. Unfortunately I was more recent so under water but the divis keep coming. Much Like a company I know well, Jarvis Securities JIM, owner of X-O retail broker. I started small and kept reinvesting divis and built up a good stake, collected £10k divis in the last 2 years, sold some last year at over £3 and bought back at 107p recently. You have to get to know a company to know when to take advantage of drops and stick with them. I hope this proves to be the case here and topped uprecently.

I was in 280p years ago, wonder if back there, it's been good to me with all the special and normal dividends over the years. 280p of course load up again if it gets there.

Just tried a dummy buy of 2000 shares. Best offer at AJ Bell was 350p. Liquidity has always been an issue here - I'd hoped that the extra shares in issue after buying the US fund manager would have helped. Apparently not. Might be tempted in the low 300s if it's actually possible to buy down there. CLIG's performance hasn't exactly been stunning for a while now, though the dividends at least keep coming.

Imagine how low it would go if there was some volume ;)

POLR, LIO, CLIG.. Massive value traps or getting near the bottom? For the number of times the bottom's been called, I'd think we're going lower.

I personally think guy is good, but do your own research of course, scroll down for CLIG thoughts, weak sterling is good news, thats what I mean in CLIG report only shows illustrations down to 1.16 to the dollar. Whoever thought we would see sterling down at this current level.

CLIG shareprice is currently at a 28 month low. The MSCI All Country World index is down by more than 25% this year and sterling is now 17% down against the US$ over the same timeframe. We could be close to approaching the bottom!

The weak pound certainly helping. Look at the report only gives illustrations down to 1.16 to dollar.

TRADING UPDATE

City of London (LSE: CLIG), announces that on a consolidated basis, as at 30 September 2022, FuM were US$8.5bn (£7.6bn). This compares with US$9.2bn (£7.6bn) as at 30 June 2022. Investment performance was slightly behind relevant benchmarks for the EM and International CEF Strategies at CLIM largely due to wider discounts in very weak market conditions. The Opportunistic Value strategy ("OV") outperformed due to positive allocation effects. KIM's equity and fixed-income strategies performed well versus their respective benchmarks. Net investment flows were US$40m for the Group over the period, with the OV and International CEF strategies posting net gains.

"Fixed" costs are c.£1.8m per month, and accordingly the run-rate for operating profit, before profit-share is approximately c.£2.7m per month based upon current FuM and a US$/£ exchange rate of US$1.117 to £1 as at 30 September 2022.

One analyst said pound dollar parity nearly a certainty in November, if that happens revenue should be 19.3 million pounds if client money stays at $9.2 billion, also plenty of cash in the bank. Never know what's going to happen with the markets of course, but I would say future dividends looks safe to me.

A 10% drop on the back of 14,000 shares traded seems overdone, but sentiment in the market in general is very poor. Will Clig be able to maintain the div in this environment?

We got a nice 22p dividend in a couple weeks, I'm relaxed as long as we are getting paid to hold. The lower sterling goes the bigger the profits.
