Trading for free here... bought three times at about 160, sold at 260, 200 and I have one chunk that is held as part of an HYP.

The divs earned alone have more than paid for the shares I own now.

But I suspect your right ;-)

I own all of them down to and including Schroder and am ahead on all bar Hansard where I am down 0.5 per cent. 50 per cent up with GLIF, 30 per cent up on PEQ, 5 per cent up on RUS, 12 per cent up on Schroder, 1.4 per cent up on RECI, 0.5 per cent up on RDI. That is ignoring dividends and buy backs which are sizeable in all cases. The latter two have paid me £606 dividends since I bought them in November last year. My other holdings go back years. So, if these are all dogs, I say, "Woof, woof" :-)

Carador and GVC are on my watch lists.

IMO Chesnara is much safer than all of the above. Schroder Real Estate and Raven Russia are not bad, the others are dogs!

Raven Russia press seem very solid. They have done well for me as I first bought in around 90p so capital gain as well as the yield. The latest raven Russia results were very positive. Now 94 percent let.

Thanks for the comments. I do think there's a few of these niche finance companies which are undervalued and on stupid yields, it's a question of how safe are they. CSN feels very safe!

Ditto re Hansard. Hansard yields more because it is in fund management (which can walk out of the door),(emerging markets (even worse political risk than here), is in an area in danger of random legislation (always allegedly, but rarely actually, in the interest of the consumer), and the bosses are old (no details of the succession plan). A lot more uncertainties than here.

Sorry to stray off topic. Unless you count high yield as the topic.

I'm hoping to see something similar at HSD which is 2 weeks from results and has a divi of 6-7% on offer soon after - currently on 12% FY yield - assuming it remains intact after results. There has been a lot of buys over there in the last week but the price has hardly moved. CSN is offering only half of that with the interims and it's done well - thanks in part to that IC writeup, always seems to cause a little wave of interest.

Morning

Decided to drift out most of my holding here this morning just over £2. Great run since purchase/share price a little more up with events than it was/leave something in there for the next man, etc, etc. Maybe a chance to get back in when the next euro crisis hits?

Been in long enough to be in profit (June I think) but nice to see some action here. The assurance about the divi seems to have encouraged some continuing buying. Long term hold for me unless I see something I don't like happening.
