Yeah I bought for income on the basis of the IC article.. It's a bit contradictory as one of their analysts sold out about 2 months ago as it hit his stop loss.. But all in all I'm long chesnara - Aviva and resolution all IC recommendations yields too good to ignore

We have a write up in Investors Chronicle. It's behind a paywall though - only bit visible reads:

Market volatility has hit embedded value at life assurer Chesnara - but the underlying performance remains solid enough and the yield is hard to beat

Without trying to teach anyone to suck eggs, the same thing can be done through those settings for lots of key words and phrases, so if you want to quickly scan a report for other key words such as "difficult" or "in line with expectations" or "debt" or "lower" or any other phrase you are seeking within a report, then these would also get highlighted throughout.

Morning DAVE

Apropos of not much at all the highlighted dividend phrase is now showing this morning, with me not having done anything at all to sort it! Maybe it meeds a day to register on the system, or only works after a restart? Anyway, working now, so thanks for that suggestion.

Thanks for that DAVE. I seem to be following the steps outlined but without any joy. Seems to be accepting it as the new word/phrase as dividend, is there when checking out the phrases again. Mystery. Thanks for trying anyway.

Hyden, thanks for that. That will do nicely in absence of the other method working, thanks.

I use a different method - simply press [CTL] and 'F' to bring up the Find box. Type the word 'dividend' and keep clicking 'Next' until you find what you want. All occurances of the word Dividend are highlighted in Yellow shading.

You got me beat ! When I do it the word dividend highlights about 8 times on the first page. Lets just check what you are doing.

1. Enter the word DIVIDEND as the selected phrase
2. Select colour
3. Open the RNS in ADVFN news (it won't work outside ADVFN)
4. If still no action contact ADVFN and ask them to look at your settings

Hello DAVEOFDEVON

Thanks for the tip on highlighting but when I try that nothing is highlighted in the text. I went back and checked and the word dividend has been accepted on the list of highlighted news phrases, it just isn't highlighted in the text when I go to look at it. Am I doing something wrong?

Is this working for everyone else?

The dividend increase is a clear vote of confidence in the company's business. I am pleased I first bought in a week or so ago.

An easy way get the dividend dates :-

In the menu above select NEWS then on the news page select "Hightlight Phrases"
I then put the word "Dividend" in Blue and the word "Register" in Blue. You can then speed read the RNS and the right bit just jumps off the page.

Thanks for your assistance, so it's a couple of days before 13th April.

OK, sorry, 11th April 2012.

Yes, thanks for that, I agree it is informative, though I STILL think it should be prominently displayed in the RNS ;-)

Yes, I know they all do that, most frustrating, especially with financial companies that can have results hundreds of pages long. You'd think it was pretty important information to a lot of investors and would be easy to move to the top of the results under the circumstances, wouldn't you?

I don't use Firefox and am not particularly computer gifted, so end up doing it the hard way and hunting for it :-((

CWA - they all do that sort of thing!

I use Firefox, which has a "Find" facility. That cuts it down to a few seconds!

No idea why cos. can't make this, to a lot of investors, important sort of data more prominent in announcements rather than hidden on page 133....

Just spent a few minutes hunting that down myself!!

A final dividend of 10.9p per share in respect of the year ended 31 December 2011 payable on 22 May 2012 to equity shareholders of the Parent Company registered at the close of business on 13 April 2012, the dividend record date, was approved by the Directors after the balance sheet date. The resulting total final dividend of GBP12.5m has not been provided for in these financial statements and there are no income tax consequences.

OK, the dividend has increased to 10.9p but I couldn't see when it goes ex divi. Is it the same as 2011, 6th April?

Anybody please.

All very encouraging, but life funds typically sit at a 20% to 30% discount to EEV, which suggests a share price of 180p to 205p.

Will RSL be bidding once it's sorted out its own structure?
