11/6/2009 11:08 | I'd rather have a warts and all update like this-albeit they were too sanguine earlier-than the wing and a prayer that accompanies a rights issue from Cookson.Sold some of my holding a quid higher. Not inclined to buy back. | ![]() steeplejack
11/6/2009 07:41 | Well I've sold. 1. When news like this comes out the first announcement is seldom the last : there's usually more bad news to follow 2. I don't have confidence in managements which drop this sort of thing on investors without prior warning when trading conditions have clearly been worsening for some time given the severity of the corrective measures they're taking. | ![]() bluebelle
10/6/2009 13:26 | Yeah think i agree with your view could be a decent short term short .. time will tell | kito691
10/6/2009 13:21 | My view is that this is not bumping along the bottom - the bottom is a fair bit off the current share price Materially off forecast is too significant for me to jump-in - that said CHTR will recover when the economy reverts back to something that resembles normality. IMO Anyone else got a view? | rusty steele
10/6/2009 13:16 | Anyone any views on where this is heading .. could it be the classic dont catch a falling knife | kito691
10/6/2009 11:37 | Bumping along the bottom.....don't scupper the market rally!...bumping along the bottom! | ![]() steeplejack
10/6/2009 08:19 | Clearly run up from £2 to £6 was dodgy , anyone with any savy knows that all their markets have and still are in meltdown with no signs of recovery . | ![]() jotoha2
10/6/2009 08:02 | They can't walk on water and this update is very like Lincoln's first Qtr,very sobering. The irony lies in the decision to pay a dividend after so many years only to almost immediately suffer deteriorating trading conditions. | ![]() steeplejack
10/6/2009 07:53 | lol so much for that channel!! | ![]() miti 1000

24/5/2009 12:48 | It's basically to do with the company having moved its tax residence to Ireland, so that the Irish taxman has become involved. The company does however have an arrangement to allow the dividends to be UK-sourced and so only subject to the UK taxman (for a UK shareholder, that is). You've got to elect to receive your dividends that way, though - or in the case of shares held in nominee accounts, get your broker to do so. If you haven't already read it, there's a section in the 2008 annual report ( downloadable from ) about payment of dividends - it's on page 41 (as numbered on the page - page 43 as far as Acrobat is concerned because there are two cover pages at the start). The Prospectus that it refers to is also downloadable - use the "Prospectus & Shareholder circulars" link on the above page's left-hand side. Gengulphus | ![]() gengulphus

09/5/2009 14:02 | I've had 20% withheld from my dividend. Happened to anyone else? Is it a result of the reincorporation in Ireland? If so, does anyone know if it can be reclaimed? Regards | ![]() muangsing
09/5/2009 12:12 | Yes, but a news media outfit mistook it for Charteris and that company's price quadrupled to over 20p.It still ended up 127% even when the error was identified. It beggars belief! | ![]() steeplejack
08/5/2009 15:55 | Panmure Gordon upgrade today, target price of 890p | joycey2
07/5/2009 14:45 | The great Charter helter-skelter,to which i'm now largely immune.Mind you,with the benefit of hindsight,maybe 650p was a bridge too far short term. | ![]() steeplejack
