22/6/2018 19:15 | just looked it up. seems cheap. quoted $2.64 to charge for 70 miles. even if we assume longer range then say $10 per journey. $15 with tax. so the economics are reduced to the relatively short life of the battery, loss of power with time and unreliability with time. ..a new battery every four years? Hybrid better of course. I see old Mercedes still running well after 15 years. how will electric cars fare, depreciation and second hand value? | careful
22/6/2018 18:58 | how much electric power does it take to provide that much power in 6 minutes? remember there are no free meals, conservation of energy and all of that. such a rapid energy transfer, what is the fire hazard. A few calcs are in order. what would our electricity bill be for each charge. And what does the power station use for fuel, natural gas? people are getting carried away thinking that all of a sudden energy will be much cheaper. can't understand that. I will do some sums. I will assume a 50mw power station, and 10,000 cars being charged. this ain,t gonna be cheap. and how will hmg replace the billions it raises from tax on petrol and diesel? electric cars will cause a shock if you forgive the pun. ..and how many charges until the battery is clapped out. | careful
