perhaps this is why I retired at 50 now 70 I did my research and still making more money than I will ever need and give loads away to family

trust no one who does it for a living money is all they are interested in fact

USwitch and the comparison sites are offering a service.
they are liars go on net put in details then go back in on different name then again you will get different deals . it all about commission for them not the customer

Cashback businesses such as Quidco some time ago hijacked the world of affiliate marketing where commission is paid for a completed transaction. (and voucher codes as well).

The original affiliate marketing model was that you have a blog or a site, featuring useful content on retailers/products and therefore contribute something to the sale and the marketing efforts of the retailers. Amazon started it off way back.

The opportunity to grab big chunks of lucrative business was spotted by cashback and code businesses, who were allowed to run as 'affiliates'. They spotted that if you are the last affiliate to drop your cookie on the buyers computer by whatever means you can, you would get the commission.

This worked, because we've become a nation of cheapy, cheap bargain hunters, who at the same time are prepared to waste our own time and money by getting in a car to drop kids off 1/2 mile away at school and throwing away food.

The result of that was that merchants who would never in a month of Sundays put a load of code or cashback offers through your letterbox, very rapidly found that they featured online, whether they were running code or cashback or not.

For some brand managers and businesses, horrifically giving them the label of discounters whether they wanted it or not.

Because those sites put up 10's of thousands of pages mentioning the merchant. So when you searched for 'retailer' + 'code', up came their page. Even if the merchant was not running either, loads of searchers just clicked on 'check to see if there's an offer here' and landed on the retailer site, at the same time the code/cashback site's cookie wiping out any previous cookies from blogs and sites that actually put effort into marketing for the retailers.

The 'cheating' was never ever dealt with.

Unfortunately, because we all like a bargain, those sites started to deliver so much volume, that the retailers became scared to disallow those sites as affiliates. So now most of them have joined in by default.

So that is how we all became 'trained' to look for discounts and cashback and how retailer margins have been partly hit, by having to pay out commission when there was no actual marketing effort or value added by the commission receiver.

At least USwitch and the comparison sites are offering a service.

It would be nice if the press forgot about slightly biased results from some comparison sites and had a look into cashback and code sites.

Porty, with my small holding I'd be quite happy if they shot to 242p and along the way to divi will come in nicely, just a shame have to wait so long.
