12/8/2020 16:59 | Always the way Martin- not by much though, all the best. | stevedaytrader
12/8/2020 16:56 | Finally moved, just after I sold. This was what I was expecting earlier | martinfrench
12/8/2020 16:51 | That's bed and ISA, which is allowed. | rose_by_another_name
12/8/2020 16:33 | Yeah you can, it's merely a sell and buy, the realised loss or gain is your CGT liability. Ergo, you sell your items that are down on the 5th April and buy them back in your ISA. Those realised losses can then be offset against your CGT gains from elsewhere. | plat hunter
12/8/2020 16:33 | Arkouda, yes , more than one way of making money or losing it sometimes and I have had a bad run through losing discipline recently . Must stick to OAAT as I can get into trouble if I stray from that basic rule of trading . MMs are a nuisance and do not stick to AIM stocks - none in OZ of course and makes life easier for trading I think. I see CEY made a late recovery . | arja
12/8/2020 16:28 | Sotolo, I don't think you can bed and breakfast anymore, I think they have changed the rules | astjgroom
12/8/2020 16:23 | It did this from the low of ~1865 at ~-5:30 through to 1947 @09:00- wiggled since. Long term remains strong, but that was some shock to the system yesterday/last night/early hours... I guess this is going to happen at these lofty heights... | stevedaytrader
12/8/2020 16:13 | POG could be back at 2k by eow, at this rate.Up circa 80 dollars since 6 am | plat hunter
12/8/2020 14:45 | Martin, true, but ~same price now as 09:00- we rose at day start as gold had slumped to 1865 at ~05:30 and shot up to 09:10 high so the ~206 was prob on sentiment. Since 09:00 it’s gone down and up and down and up... | stevedaytrader
12/8/2020 14:41 | I get the impression the major influence on CEY’s share price is the state of the MMs’ order book. | arkouda
12/8/2020 14:36 | steve, its added 15 dollars from one part of the day to another, come on thats worth more than no move. think its all these divi sellers... | martinfrench
12/8/2020 14:31 | Thanks arja but I think I’ll stick with what I know (or think I know😀). Good luck with it if you give it a try. | arkouda
12/8/2020 14:30 | martin, HOC which I am in is just the same and moves down when silver price rises - dam frustating . Sometimes a stock will drop more than the value of dividend and especially in OZ of a fully franked div. | arja
12/8/2020 14:26 | I think the 6c divi is sbout 2.23% on current rates, so expect this drop overnight on whatever close price is- sometimes it jumps at open, other times drops greater depending on the normal factors that influence the share price overnight. Martin, golds not done a lot in last 6 hours... this will, of course change. All indices up again | stevedaytrader
12/8/2020 14:16 | centamin is just not really moving to the gold price fluctuations the way it normally does....just wont budge | martinfrench
12/8/2020 14:12 | Cheers steve.. thought it was on Thursday for a moment. | plat hunter
12/8/2020 14:11 | arkouda, I start to wonder if a safer way to make money on gold is to go for GBS which mirrors the gold price movements and then not relying on a what might happen in a particular company as just might not religiously follow the gold price . I think I might try trading it if nothing else interests me at the time and it might suit you too . Seems to be fairly liquid . | arja
12/8/2020 14:09 | Lol Sotolo- sometimes I like the divi, sometimes not- depends on my situation at the time. But as you say, annoying if you dump to avoid the price goes up due to other factors at opening, esp a big amount so you struggle to get back in. Alternatively, can go the other way... | stevedaytrader
12/8/2020 14:05 | No, as of close of play today. | stevedaytrader
12/8/2020 13:58 | Yes I know Sotolo... If i sold on Friday, i'd still receive the dividend though. The divi is in the bag so to speak as of cob tomorrow. | plat hunter
12/8/2020 13:38 | not exactly great US CPI numbers, all getting bit inflationary over there.....and gold is an inflation hedge (until they raise interest rates to combat said inflation, which they wont for ages) so gold maybe back in play for a bit dollar falling as a result | martinfrench
12/8/2020 13:13 | You can bed and breakfast, just pay cgt on the difference in price and original base cost remains the same | sotolo
12/8/2020 13:11 | Sorry Steve has said the same far more eloquently, also Steve I have been caught out too many times selling to pay cgt on the divi, and buying back next morning only for gold to have risen overnight. Last time was first time I didn’t sell and of course gold fell. The other problem is Inhave. A few hundred thousand so a bigger spread | sotolo
12/8/2020 13:08 | Plat, the divi isn’t tomorrow, it goes ex doc tomorrow which won’t reduce any losses as share price takes account of the divi, and should fall by that amount tomorrow | sotolo
12/8/2020 10:53 | Well I break even now at this price with the did divi. I did fear the worst for the open today, so that's something atleast | plat hunter |
