29/1/2018 01:32 | In case we see a down leg in pog ... blue super moon on the 31st ;-) ... support at $1345, $1325 area (+-5), $1310 and ultimately $1290-$1300. Sentiment in all things commodity is super high right now but CoTs are not yet in overly bearish territory, especially in ADHD-afflicted silver, so no real warning from that area. Don't forget Wednesday for 2017 annual results and final dividend announcement. | ![]() flopticalcube
26/1/2018 13:00 | What is it? Year 4 or 5 of the court case. I forget. Seems like an eternity. | ![]() fangorn2
26/1/2018 00:04 | Court case ongoing, no news of late.., | ![]() astjgroom
25/1/2018 21:01 | Technical reason for the pullback: Roundly rejected at the first attempt to break through. $1345 is a good support point for now. Fundamental reason for the pullback: Trump said Mnuchin was misinterpreted and he wanted a strong dollar. I have several problems with this. Firstly, he has consistently said that for US industry to compete they need a weaker dollar. Secondly, wanting a strong dollar is the wrong move going into a trade war. Thirdly, this is the old policy of talking a strong dollar but creating a weak one. Maybe this is his attempt at managing the steep decline of recent days. Just to add that we are now approaching the end of the seasonal strength which coincides with Chinese Lunar New Year (Feb 16). In bear markets the tendency would be for gold to fall for the next six months. In bull markets it can consolidate or even climb. | ![]() flopticalcube
25/1/2018 20:49 | Has anyone heard anything about the court case recently? I admit I haven't been paying much attention. It was discussed regularly at one time but it seems to have gone very quiet on that front. Maybe it's been settled and I missed the news. | ![]() sg31

24/1/2018 19:07 | Gold now reaching the peak of last September at the $1360 area. Miners are definitely lagging. If gold can breakthrough the peak it will likely press on to the $1400 area where stiff resistance will likely show up and a pull back to $1360 before we climb again. CoTs are probably neutral to bearish now but not overly so. HUI has broken out of an inverted head and shoulders giving miners a further 15% upside from here. Meant to add that the USD is now in a tailspin. Next support at 85. Going down..... if it breaks 80 it will be because all hell will have broken loose. 10y Treasury yields are now at levels not seen for 3.5 years. If you are a foreign holder of Treasuries you are getting a double whammy of price erosion and exchange rate erosion. If you are foreign holder of equities you are now 30% behind in local currency terms since early 2016 compared to USD holders. Imagine what would happen if the USD, bonds and the markets all fell at the same time! | ![]() flopticalcube

13/1/2018 01:08 | What we wish for is material insofar as we have votes :-) | zangdook
12/1/2018 18:15 | That should have said "It should come out " | ![]() mattboxy
12/1/2018 18:14 | Look at the Melrose gkn situation today. Gkn rejected the offer and the price keeps rising. If the value is there it should put under a take over situation. | ![]() mattboxy
12/1/2018 16:59 | What we wish for is not material. What is happening is. Josef has sold a large percentage of his holdings and is leaving at the end of the year. New directors are being brought in who have ties to other miners. Note that Baker has been placed on the nomination committee. If the court case gets resolved this year then the last road block has been removed. One could speculate that the delay in the verdict has been deliberate to give more time to line all the ducks up. At any rate, its a possibility and one that we should all be ready for. Whether we get true value or not from such a situation is not up to us but to Mr. Market. With the breakout in gold, new target is $1400. There will be resistance all the way but the seasonal winds are with us until the end of the month. | ![]() flopticalcube
12/1/2018 14:49 | Each to our own zang, i understand your view but I'd like some faster cash for a house buy(!). But I also think there won't be one until the case is resolved as per a later comment. | ![]() astjgroom
12/1/2018 14:19 | I doubt there will be any takeover attempt whilst the court case is unresolved. | ![]() rhcm
12/1/2018 14:16 | I don't want a takeover. They're a pain except on the rare occasions there's a bidding war and you actually get a fair price. | zangdook
