Stiff upper lip eh twh, put on a brave face.

That's two closed out shorts you've just had i bet. Both times the price moved rapidly against you, so either you closed at a loss or you took some nuisance calls. All assuming you aren't a penny a pointer, which is probably a duff assumption.

Anyhow, are you claiming to be short again? If so, lets hope several thousand people die over the weekend eh, and perhaps a few hundred deaths on cruise ships wouldn't go amiss too. Wouldn't it be great if no cruise ship were allowed to dock anywhere for several months. You could make at least 30 quid if things get really that bad, here's hoping.

Another great day to end the weekEspecially good news for all you cruisers is that inventory has risen daily since 2 February so there will be even more choice when you book next. Marvellous news eh!?Apparently when boarding they name play a tribute to the legendary Fleetwood Mac...You can get in but you can't get off...and during black tie dinner at the Captains table the bands more requested tune is the Dead Kennedy's classic...Holiday in CambodiaBe Lucky

On the watchlist, but that is some two year downtrend on the chart.

update from them at 14.15 is near profit warning

As a result of Coronavirus, the company believes the impact on its global bookings and cancelled voyages will have a material impact on its financial results which was not anticipated in the company's previous 2020 earnings guidance. Be interesting if this gets targeted by the big shorting institutes.

No real shocks in the update, and an initial outline of the financial impact was inevitable at some point, if not overdue.

from 28/1/20 results,

Five percent of our capacity was scheduled to be deployed in China in fiscal year 2020. If these travel restrictions continue for an extended period of time, they could have a material impact on our financial performance.

Nice bounce if any of you caught that.
What it may indicate is there is already a lot of adverse news

just seen report that cruise refits being delayed, 8% cancellation increase on worldwide bookings (may be mainly Chinese though), many ports now refusing passengers off, can really see this being a problem if the virus goes on or spreads more. Has to hurt top line figures by the end of the year. Not focused on this company but a overall overview of the cruise companies issues. We will see.....

I think p&o are missing a trick. Lots of other cruise lines have bought their own carribean islands, and have stopovers there, in complete safety, with the islands kitted out luxuriously for cruisers. Seems attractive to me, why aren't p&o on that bandwaggon? All they own afaiia are the port and dock facilities on the islands they visit.

The media in the UK love to whip up hysteria. If it's not Brexit it might be financial meltdown (which never materialised).

They jumped on this Kung Flu when it first broke but it wasn't even the lead story on many TV channels today. And so far to date just how many people in the UK have caught the disease and died. When i last checked it was a big fat zero.......

Meanwhile there are around 35,300 lung cancer deaths in the UK every year. Perhaps the media should focus on raising efforts to solve that crisis that has been with us for years instead.

twh, wrong type of shorts mate.

You should forget about shorts on the markets and think about using your shorts on a lovely winter cruise to somewhere hot.

Plenty of bargains to be had i expect, for those who have some money left.

Prof Oxford (QMU, world leader in virology, orph consultant) said much the same on r4 today. Not sure he said 'vanish', but will simply die down by then. Worst case, 60%of the uk get it (it's very mild apparently) and 1% will die, probably just a bit sooner than they would have done anyway. Best case it doesn't take off in the uk. Wuhan now peaking and will die down from now.

Seeing as Trump has been proven correct on everything else he said, the virus will vanish in the summer.
