Here it is.

- Third quarter results announced last week by Carnival were ahead of Nomura's expectations, prompting the broker to raise full year forecasts for the cruise operator.

Nomura has upped its earnings per share forecast for the current year by 5% to $2.47 while the 2011 figure has been jacked up by 10% to $3.00.

The 2010 forecast, even after the upgrade, still puts Nomura's figure just below the company's own guidance range of $2.48-$2.52 earnings per share, based on a net revenue yield improvement of 2.5% year on year.

However, looking beyond the current year, the broker is more optimistic. "Slower industry capacity growth (3-4% pa from 2012), cyclical recovery in net yield, which remains c7% below its 2008 peak and strong value credentials, together lead us to forecast above-trend net yield growth over the next few years," said Nomura analyst Nicholas Thomas.

The stock has, on average, traded at a price/earnings ratio (PER) of 17 over the past 20 year, a 17% discount to the US market's average PER of 20, according to Nomura.

"However, this discount has closed during periods of above-trend yield growth," Thomas notes. "Given our above-trend yield forecasts, we believe that Carnival should trade at least in line with the US market."

The broker rates the shares a "buy" and has a price target for the stock of 3300p.

Taking all the above factors into consideration, the company now
forecasts full year 2010 fully diluted earnings per share to be in the range
of $2.48 to $2.52, which is above June guidance of $2.25 to $2.35 and 2009
earnings of $2.24 per share.

guidance up no wonder the jump

trying to catch the wave up to 2600 with short term buy at 2529

wig123,

Yes it is nearly time for a short on this cruiser. I'll be waiting for the DOW to lead this down. Once the low volume uptick is completed. When will that be?
imho 10,900 - 11,200, next 5-10 days. lol

yes the popular ones are selling without extra benefits (free car parking/onboard spend)

RCL are as you say being very agressive for independence this winter. so tempted if I could have got time off work but normally do princess or P&O

2200p and the company stopping the sales was the signal to go long. Fully invested elsewere so didn't but results day normally gives a big enough swing to trade

I can't guess which way the share price will go in the short term, but I do watch the price of cruises. The street price for many Carnival cruises seems to be at least 20 % above what it was last year and many of the offers are further in the future.

If you want a 'never mind the quality feel the price' cruise you need to book RCL.

The second quarter update from Carnival was not well received by the market, as profits fell and third quarter guidance disappointed. Some companies deliberately like to set expectations low and on Tuesday we will see whether Carnival is one of those.

Carnival said it expects third quarter earnings to be between $1.43 and $1.47, above $1.33 over the same period last year, but below some analysts' estimates.
