Could be retail out of favour compounded by Reeves from PR! - |
Hard to work this one out... The value proposition for a 50-100% rise seems compelling, but it's still in the 90s... Is there a big seller? Is there something the market is unaware of? Eg. cheap utility bill hedge coming to an end last October? |
Long wait till results ! |
I would guess nobody knows what they paid last time for a card. Surely the selling point is that its not £2.75 a pop.
As long as Card maintain their perceived position and their market segment, a few pence is neither here nor there for customers. It would be interesting to see a profile of the average Card customer. |
Well I'm not doing my bit for sales, as we agreed to make handmade cards this year... I'm afraid CARD is doomed. |
Doncaster CARD very busy today as expected. The local area used to the phrase "say it with Greggs" rather than flowers, but usually a card will go with it!On a serious note, cost of living means dining out will be *ahem* off the menu, so supermarkets likely to gain as people stay in. However one certainly is that husbands and wife's* will always get a card or they'll be sleeping in the shed!*Other genders and relationship types are available, however I'm too old to understand most of them! |
For all those who are interested, there are no declared short positions in CARD now above 0.5%. WQ, the final shorter, reduced its position below the threshold on 06/02/2025.
Seems like everything is setting up nicely for a rise post-results. Let's hope we see fair value again soon! :) |
good question i dont know the answer too - i suspoect fluid pricing is possibly the way to go - confuse the consumer so much they dont know what they paid last time they came in. if it starts with and £0. customers are probably happy
with the size of their estate i would have thought some sort of ai computer would be the best test of what increased pricing does to sales - there is the sweet spot. perhaps they keep it simple though and do it the old skool markup way :) |
From Boots to Card Factory.. |
Have they implemented price rises yet ? |
Well, I've been living my life. I thought the luxury of investing was that you don't have to engage daily, unlike running a business.
Anyway, gp, has been consolidated. Should add a few million to profits for next year. Other websites are/have been upgraded. A few more stores open. Trading on a pe of 5-something for what I expect next year. There's nothing to do but buy more, pick up your dividends and wait for the weighing-machine to do it's thing. |
So we have another greeting card event this week - Valentine's Day, which apparently is being expanded by the non-conventionally gender-aligned community who are increasingly sending "Palentine" cards. Well, that's what I think I heard on the radio over the weekend! |
After a ramptastic January what’s happened to all the posts?! |
Did someone say something? |
I'm considering topping up at some stage. I'm waiting on the sidelines! |
Nobody cares if you topped up or not |
Preliminary Results are on 7th May. |
Too true, a bit of consolidation won't do any harm while we await news, potentially on the US business. |
The share price gets more ridiculous by the day, not even moving on a good up day for the market. |
A cut in rates will be swag for CARD.Bring on the breakout |
Topped up here this morning. |
CF staying surprisingly steady when so many shares are dropping like stones. |
Haha! How bloody dare you ;)Have a great weekend all! |
Not much of a pullback, down just 0.2%!
It's almost as if the market couldn't care less ;-) |
