Looks like Capita really is that defensive play in a volatile stock market that some of us were talking about a short while ago. After all CPI doesn't have to worry about consumer spending or the credit crunch and benefits hugely from big companies wanting to outsource admin etc to save costs.

I look forward to even more big contracts being signed over the next few months.

Final results - profits will exceed market expectations - roll on Feb 29th !!!

Price picking up speed this morning with a nice rise so far. I presume all on the back of the contract news

yes that was the point I was making, so the announcement is pretty much neutral with regards to the share price

This is a usual purchase and about this level. Similar announcements are mader throughout the year at this level of share purchase

sorry to put a downer on that trt as I do hold some of these however Capita trustees buy for the Capita Share Ownership Plan around the 7th of each month and the 'top up' re directors was 21 shares per director:

7. Name of registered shareholder(s) and, if more than one, the number of
shares held by each of themCapita Share Ownership Plan - Capita IRG Trustees Limited 1. State the nature of transaction

A purchase was made on 7 January of 18,756 ordinary shares in the Company by
the Trustee of the Trust at a price of 664.50 00pper share for the purpose of
satisfying the purchase of ordinary shares by eligible employees who have
elected to join The Capita Group Plc Share Ownership Plan, including executive
directors and persons discharging managerial responsibilities who are therefore
potential beneficiaries under the Trust for January 2008.
2. Number of Shares, debentures or financial instruments relating to shares
acquired.
Mr Patrick Doyle - 21ordinary shares
Mr Peter Kelly - 21ordinary shares
Mr Robert Coyle -21ordinary shares
Mr Kevin Dady - 21ordinary shares

however as Dave pointed out lows are getting higher so that offers some encouragement!

Lows have started getting higher (well just) since mid November.
The forthcoming results plus a possible rate cut should send this higher.

That rise today has broken through the resistance on the down trend. Further to be smashed again next week. Where is the new top going to be I wonder? I can see this being far nearer to £8 by the end of the year and £10 by next year.

I would expect the final divi to be in the region of 8.30p plus the real prospect of another special divi in the region of 25p.The authority for future share buybacks and special divi has already been passed / granted at the AGM.

We are now only 5 weeks away from the final results and I am still expecting profits to exceeed market expectations - then just watch the price jump !!!
