Likewise; sitting patiently on mine. Probably 'motor' when we least expect it. Last statement gave me a lot of confidence. Also reassuring the share price doesn't tank when the markets get jittery.

Yes, I too have parked this. VTU was "Shares" preferred choice (along with Lookers). But the last CAMB statement was so upbeat, I thought I'd stick with it.

Chris , I have parked this one for now having got in at 50.4p which I considered the bottom. I was expecting CAMB to be purring at 60p by now. VTU has also ran out of petrol and even went into reverse hitting 53p this week. Obviously an unloved sector and one for the patient only.

Is there anybody out there ???

Reminder to investors:

-- Buy shares and the price goes up
-- Sell shares and the price goes down
(just in case you had forgotten)

Incidentally, this week Shares mag did a good piece entitled "Motor rally has fuel in tank" and mentioned Cambria (in passing). The inference is that they too will benefit from the current consumer confidence.

CAMB interims for the 6 months ending Feb 2014 stated New Car Sales year on year growth of 17.1%.

SMMT figures for the same period are 10.3%.

So CAMB substantially ahead of the market.

davidosh, that certainly would be a valuable performance indicator. I'm not sure the numbers would be available publicly on a monthly basis from CAMB. Probably part of their internal management accounts which they'll provide to their bankers, stock funders & manufacturer partners.
Certainly would be useful though.

Is Anyone lodging the monthly SMMT figures with comparables for known monthly or periodic comps issued by CAMB showing their new car sales ?

SMMT News release 8:59am on 5 June 2014.

Longest ever period of growth for UK new car market.

May increase drives UK new car market to 27 consecutive months of growth, breaking record set in the late 1980s.
New car registrations increased 7.7% in May to 194,032 units – the most in May since 2004.
Registrations for 2014-to-date pass the one million mark, rising 11.6% to 1,058,974 units.

Hi davidosh,

Given that some of the metrics for CAMB don't seem wildly different from some of the other UK car dealers, it would be interesting to know why the Board think we should invest in CAMB rather than its competitors.

Thank you, Martin

Incidentally I have space for one of you if you want to join me at the lunch (there will be ten of us at least !) in central London at 1pm.

I suspect they are not keen on paying a dividend whilst growing the estate but were probably advised that they need to pay at least a token one just to attract certain income funds to the shareholder base ! At some point the divi is likely to grow significantly I suspect but that will indicate a more mature business model

Yes, I note the after sales margin has increased to 42.4% at H1 2014 (39.7%, H1 2013). The percentage of total gross profit of the after sales element at 44.4% H1 2014 is, however, slightly lower than H1 2013 (47.3%).

David, How do they intend to keep momentum in the second half given that August is the next key month and only two and a half months away How do they intend to go from revenue of 204 million to 1 billion and under what timescale? Mostly important although I get they want to keep cash for acquisition, why pay a measly .1p. Surely a divi of 1 or 2p given their cash pile would give some reassurance to investors.

Good question. I am very keen on the Aftersales and warranty sales. Have you seen how the percentage is growing at each recorded half year figure ?

Hi David, after sales is obv where the margin is (last six months represented 44.4% of the company's gross profit). Do you know if CAMB have particular targets for this part of the business? These after sales services lag the actual sale of the new cars so you'd expect this to be a key growth area given that they are selling plenty of new cars.
