28/4/2015 14:37 | Share price overtaken VTU! | mortimer7
28/4/2015 14:37 | Intriguing yesterday & today. Share price up 3p from 53.50p to 56.50p seemingly off the back of quite a few transactions. | mortimer7
14/4/2015 10:07 | UK new car registrations for March were up 6% on 2014, at 492774 units. So despite forecasts for nominal growth in 2015 momentum has continued in Q1. Bodes well for CAMB and looking forward to their update/results on 12th May. | mortimer7
31/3/2015 17:18 | A new listing in the sector will attract attention to it. The competition is no different as they were already trading but just moving from private to public. If you are keen on small caps and quality companies where you will be able to meet the directors then you should come to the Mello investor workshops event as we will have at least 30 coming to Peterborough and we have just released the first list ...... I have invited the Cambria directors to join us there and they came to our Mello 2014 event in Derby. | davidosh
31/3/2015 13:30 | May be of interest to those who like the sector. | hastings
14/3/2015 22:28 | I have just been looking into CAMB and I'm probably splitting hairs here but the growth in new car sales seems so have slowed since the Jan update (10% LFL instead of 12%) | nehpets81
06/3/2015 09:21 | Certainly concur with the conclusion "There is not a lot to choose between either of these motor retailers with seemingly plenty of growth opportunities for both!" | jaf111
06/3/2015 09:20 | Shanklin, No probs, I accept the tone of the CAMB statement is much more bullish but once you analyse the numbers, each company appears to have performed well in different areas of their respective businesses. Decent article at Investor Champion comparing the 2 companies | cockerhoop
06/3/2015 08:24 | Shanklin, VTU actually had a larger total increase in Total Car Sales than CAMB during the 5 month period. VTU Total Sales Volume Up 7.7% LFL CAMB New Up 9.9% LFL, Used 0.0% LFL CAMB Used sales volume historically higher than new so Total LFL Up less 5% in period. Used car sales generally have higher margins so I'd interested if you could expand on your VTU self-inflicted problems comment. | cockerhoop
06/3/2015 08:10 | Pleasing update. Outperforming market on New sales still, and growth in Aftersales starting to filter through following increasing unit sales. | mortimer7
06/3/2015 07:35 | PJ 1. Those are the N+1 Singer forecasts from 15-Jan, the day of the January trading update. | shanklin
06/3/2015 07:25 | super update...continue to be holder of CAMB LOOK and VTU and likely to remain so as market conditions remain positive. CAMB is my sector favorite (and biggest holding) and certainly appears to be outperforming. IMO the rather lackluster share price performance over past 12 months is not justified and believe a 25% uplift warranted. | jaf111
06/3/2015 07:18 | Yep :-)) I have 5.3 and 5.6 as fwrd eps, are they the upgraded ones? TIA pj | pj 1
06/3/2015 07:17 | Good stuff. Makes VTU's problems look self-inflicted. | shanklin
05/3/2015 16:13 | Mortimer7, Remember lots of pre-registration going on at the moment to hit more challenging monthly sales targets. These show up in the official retail figures as new retail sales but certainly in the case of VTU they are booked as Used Car Sales once the car is eventually sold. (not sure with other companies use the same conservative accounting measures?) I think this is also distorting the figures. i.e. VTU underperformimg market in new, outperforming in used. | cockerhoop
05/3/2015 14:10 | Ref 5.1% decline in January : Weird timing VTU would include that in their update on the day that February data is released which shows a 3.4% increase year on year. Maybe VTU underperformed? | mortimer7
05/3/2015 12:39 | I think the following may be contributing to the VTU fall: "The five months ended 31 January 2015 have seen a tightening of trading conditions from the recent highs in the UK Motor Retail sector. While the overall new car market has continued to grow month by month, in January 2015 the private retail market for new cars declined by 5.1%, the first monthly decline for a number of years following successive periods of double digit market growth". It will be interesting to hear CAMB's take on the above. | rp19
05/3/2015 12:00 | SP reaction to VTU good trading statement today is a bit unnerving. Although I guess it's being driven down by traders selling on results. The relative illiquidity with CAMB means there won't be many of that disposition invested here, so hopefully CAMBs imminent update triggers a better reaction. | mortimer7
05/3/2015 10:59 | Thanks Mortimer | glaws2
05/3/2015 10:39 | For information:_ New car market grew 12.0% in February with 76,958 cars registered. 36th consecutive month of growth marks UK’s first three straight years of increases. Fleet buyers drive demand with registrations up 19.9%. Figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that the UK new car market has grown for a 36th consecutive month – a record growth period | mortimer7
25/2/2015 15:58 | Fingers crossed....I had a 60p target some time ago but assuminmg trading is as i expect in the trading update I will be raising my target to 70p! | jaf111 |
