13/12/2019 09:16 | Not that it's doing Burford any good. Ever the pariah. £/$. | time_traveller
12/12/2019 17:44 | Mad Foetus, “People are absolutely useless at thinking probabilistically. Well, some people are absolutely useless, some are poor, some are average, some are good and a few are excellent. On this board, and many others, given a person at random, the probability that they will think probablistically is pretty low. But not ALL people. | chucko1
12/12/2019 17:42 | My trading success depends not one iota on what anyone here thinks. I was sharing a TA technique that has been very profitable for me. I believe a high % of trading in BUR is algo-driven, in part, because liquidity is high, the spread is tight, and costs are low. Algo's trade with rules and TA provides them. So, good luck with your subjective and unsubstantiated guesses about price movements, and your incessant bickering. | ptolemy

12/12/2019 16:57 | I think Ptolemy's view is helpful. He is not saying what will happen, but what is likely to happen if something else happens first. Just like a doctor might say "you may have an infection, if your temperature rises above 37, start antibiotics". Or a wise turkey might say that when the farmer comes with a bucket of feed you are about to get fed, but be careful if he has taken a tree into his house a week before. People are absolutely useless at thinking probabilistically. | mad foetus

12/12/2019 15:42 | LOL! So many crazy desperate shorters on this thread, reading tea leaves, etc. | winsome
12/12/2019 15:20 | @Ptolemy Are you serious or is this satire? Come on everyone knows this stuff is made up by brokers, so that people with low iq create volume and therefore fees for them. P.s. I don't like pitchforks you should rather draw a clown. | stockvalue
12/12/2019 14:56 | Update to post 14550. 12 Nov 2019. “Support, here, means upwards trend resumes. A break below the median line, a precipitous fall.” Chart on left. The median line was broken decisively almost immediately. The white arrow marks the near 20% fall. As of yesterday we can draw a new pitchfork (4hr to close 11.12.19, see chart on right). Support, here, means price should reach 850. Again, a clean break below the median line, a further fall. | ptolemy
12/12/2019 10:41 | Bur is hardly an underperforming stock for Invesco. They probably made at least 700% on them in 10 yrs. Can't expect all your stocks to keep going up in a straight line. | winsome
12/12/2019 08:42 | It is not currently reported in their top 10 holdings, at 30/9/19 it was 20th on their list and they held c. 2.2% (c. £28m) of their fund in it. | lomax99
12/12/2019 08:30 | Sounds wrong to me, as Invesco has been an early backer/holder of Burford. The initiative was originally Woodford's (when he was there) but Invesco retained a stake (is my recollection). How surprised am I, the FT has managed to spin it negatively for Burford (again). Unless they bought in more recently as manager of Edinburgh, e.g. the circa £18 placing. Otherwise the buying could yet come good. | edmondj
12/12/2019 08:27 | Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, or how much sense this makes, but I noticed that the FT reported yesterday that Invesco was fired as manager of the Edinburgh Investment Trust, to be replaced by Majedie. They say one of the complaints against Invesco was underperforming stockpicks including Burford. So this suggests that the new manager might want to sell out. I believe that Invesco is a large holder of Burford, although not sure how much of that relates to the Edinburgh Trust. This may be behind some of the recent share price weakness as people speculate that the shares will be sold, or indeed have started to be sold. Any comments welcome. | dgdg1
12/12/2019 07:49 | The circa $1.5bn in cash receipts from concluded cases since inception dwarfs the income so far from Petersen. Most of that cash came in in recent years and is only set to accelerate given the ramping up of their investments since 2017. Its true people tend to concentrate on one thing and that seems to be Petersen at the moment and the recent chatter in the press and Argentina's latest delaying tactic has spooked investors, it seems. Petersen case could run for years, as BUR said. Arg will appeal any result over and over. How many more Arg elections b4 that happens? | winsome
11/12/2019 23:20 | Everyone talking about Petersen, but didn't that sale of the Tenvier interest look rather cute at only a 7% discount to cash?Is Burford a company where nothing should be discounted, or everything? | wantage
