Everyone talking about Petersen, but didn't that sale of the Tenvier interest look rather cute at only a 7% discount to cash?Is Burford a company where nothing should be discounted, or everything?

Hard to believe the share price is still below the days following the initial MW attack.

Another significant fall in BUR. Oh dear, how awful for holders.

Where will it end?

£10 plus is > 1.6 NAV Perfectly possibly for Bur to be pure as snow and still trade based on NAV rather than earnings The market priced Bur previously on earnings and now it does it on NAV What happens in the future is anyone guess But trading at a reasonable premium to NAV is no badge of shame

Are Burford involved with the Post Office settlement? At least it demonstrates things get settled without a court case

@wantage I agree with you. Carlson Block is no fool. He managed to build up a reputation dispite his wrong allegations about: Burford Capital Ltd. ;ANTA Sports Products Ltd.; Manulife Financial Corporation; TAL Education Group; IQE plc; OSI Systems, Inc.; Prothena Corp PLC; Man Wah Holdings Limited; Asanko Gold Inc.; Nidec Corp.; St. Jude Medical, Inc.; Ströer SE & Co. KGaA; Groupe Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA; TeliaSonera AB; Olam International Limited; American Tower Corporation; and my true favorites New Oriental Education & Technology Group which was up 756% from his attack when i checked lately. None of his allegations about western companies turned out to be true. I know he his no fool he bought back at the day when he made his allegations. The fools are the investors who don't do research, and sell at distorted prices. Whatever i am out.

You're asking for trouble.Mr Market knows a great deal more than you about the price of Burford. If this company was white as snow, why would it not trade at £10 plus? There are too many questions still hanging over it.It could go either way. Muddy Waters No fool, whatever you think.

@djderry Well perfect time to buy imo. Buy when others sell. I know that might sound offending to long term holders, but i actually somehow like activist short sellers, they create perfect buy opportunities. Short and distort as they call it.

Bought a couple if hundred shares yesterday, another 1358 shares just now and my broker insisted on reading out a 'complex instruments' warning to me! I've already got £350 K invested here ,it's a bit late for warnings!!

Yep, £70m and £66m seems incredibly reasonable ?

Thanks Ozz, seems perfectly reasonable to me - I wouldn’t mind betting that’s a much higher percentage of his wealth he has in his own company than most CEOs - so yet again Trident5 is making vacuous comments!

grs, Molot had 9.5m last announcement, Bogart has 8.9m, invesco have 24.7m , Morgan Stanley 13m and Coltrane 11.4m

Is it a fair point? There is a limit to how much any one person can ever have invested in a company. How much does Bogart still have in Burford?

trident, Bogart purchased £820,000 worth of shares in August. That not enough for you?
Molot purchased £2.3m and £3.4m in 2 transactions

@meanwhile You are right, just as with every other company. Guess what, book values are always just an estimate at a specific point in time. That's also why there are strong companies which report negativ book value over decades.
@trident5 Fair point.

Yes he did emphasise how incredibly cheap it is. But seems to find it more attractive to keep his hands in his pockets.

"Bogart summarized it well. 25% EPS Growth last year, with a current trailing P/E 6."

This is only of value if the figures on which the EPS and the P/E are based are reliable.
