Is a man going to properly hold to account the same person that gives him head x number of times a week?

You miss my point. The price was over 14 quid before the write up! If I understand it right, he issued the report after he had already taken out the short!

I write about capital markets for the @FT.

Taking a closer look at Burford's statements about its CEO and CFOs marriage.

Burford said the relationship is "disclosed". Indeed it's listed on Ms O'Connell's bio on their website.

But it wasn't in the bio in 2017. Nor was it disclosed when she was made CFO in Dec 2017.

If true, this seems extraordinary. How on earth could BUR have thought the fact that the CFO was the CEO's wife did not merit disclosure when she was made CFO in Dec 2017?

Goodbloke, that’s a little naïve. If MW was confident his report had legs, then the price would have fallen significantly before he had a chance to attack - or at least he would be selling into a collapsing market in competition with everyone else. They are running a hedge fund, not just a research shop. I am not surprised they have a keen following with investment returns in the mid to high teens since launch, albeit just four years ago or so.

Nerd,

From your activity here & your Daveycaferacer tweets I'd say you are balls deep in this, yet another controversial share that's crashed.

How do you do it?

That was the point I made before.Going short and then the next day putting out a very negative (and in my opinion a spurious )report in my view is not on the same level playing field as someone who has gone short following the report!

Can't believe IMF Bentham believe it's acceptable not to revalue cases where they have had financially significant interim judgements in their favour. Creates a false market in their shares IMHO.

Foetus, my understanding is that Burford further de-risk by selling parts of their cases too.

IMF have done 1.5x over many years Bur take c2 years on average to recover 1.5x over 2 years is c22% Can't think of another asset class that can deliver that level of performance with near zero economic cycle correlation

I forgot to add to my list of things that happened that, according to the Mail, MW continued to send bearish tweets while in the process of buying stock. If true, it is difficult to see how that is not illegal market manipulation.

I think both accounts are from Daniel Yu:
@LongShortTrader / @GothamResearch
according to Financial Times and other sources:

If this is correct, probably he's going to deliver a generic report on his views on litigation finance, probably not specific "accurate facts" about Burford as the one released by MW.
