Sold this morning soon as the leg up failed (Been in and out since end of 2016), there is a huge shadow over this company / share. Will continue to watch / keep track to re-enter, just feel the share price is going to decline over the next few months... just like it's done since Xmas.

Could be completely wrong but I go with my gut.

Terry Smith now has my BUR money.

But if you exclude Petersen...you would have a very different company as it is worth a billion. As they have said several times, asymmetric returns are the nature of the game

From the Interims:-

Cash and liquidity management

"Burford closed the period with $171 million of cash and cash management investments on our balance sheet and an unusually high $173 million of litigation finance receivables. That receivables balance was simply due to timing; we had several large payments due in early July and thus those matters were shown as receivables over the period end. Since the period end we have been paid $126 million of those receivables,
as expected."

The market is completely irrational, added another 10 K (626 shares) and will start selling other shares to buy if this keeps going south,it's a surreal response, going to earnings call now.

Worth going to FT alpahville where they give an over view of the brokers views. Specifically the bear case from CC seems to be now centered on the lack of cash generation, and the possible need for a cash raise. They say, that if you exclude the 100m from Petersen then cash generation is way down on last year and very weak. That's probably what's causing the poor sentiment.

Ok,I normally don't pay much attention to the share price on the basis that, over time,it will take care of itself.I already have several hundred thousand euro/ pounds worth of these in the portfolio ,I've just added another ten K approx ( 590 shares) and,if it keeps going down, will add again.

Well, someone's got to be wrong.
So, being contrarian, I've added again today at 1640.

The good news is that that buys me the half year's value at about 20x P/E so I can wait another six months for the other £16 of value at full year's value.

How are all these analysts basing their valuations, on earnings, on "assets" on a multiple of ROIC, on asset returns compounded with a RoR... what?

More comment here:

"Cube Midcap Report (25 July 2019)"

(I don't rate Roland Head very highly since his record on Stocko has been rather spotty. Still, his comments may be an echo of what may be holding back some investors).

Investor call in a couple of hours. If price is still down I wonder if they'll get questions on share price action over last few months. It is something they alluded to after all

Indeed. Plenty of screaming shorts in the market, but Buford would be about the last I would choose. That said, so much of the coverage around it is very stinky, but then what do you expect for AIM - it's no good Buford winging about it - time to join the grown ups.

tradertrev,

Cheers, I'd missed that - interesting that both were not cash collection issues but special cases, ie equity going South, and IP becoming worthless.

Some comment from Macquarie and Bernberg (and Canaccord, still saying to "sell"!) on FT Alphaville Markets Live, near the end, from 12.52 onwards:

(It is presumably CG that is causing the pullback once again.
Oh, to have a Priti Patel rather than a Portia Patel!)
