Talking to a guy at the gym today who works for BT, been there 26 years in his early 50s, his in middle management and on gold plated pension. January next year he has to sign a new contract of employment. He's not happy about it and hoping for a pay off. What I can make of it, they are trying within to sort the pension defeset out. If so BT are a good long/medium term hold.

I think it's more the case that it's a defensive stock choice.

I have decided not to mention any investments I buy or sell here, it doesn't affect any profit I make, so why try and justify anything.
I am going to drop off from posting here and do something more constructive with my time.
Good luck all.

Interesting Ham, you made no mention of this purchase at 763p on the IAG forum yesterday but you did say this "11/10/2018 12:14 I just tried to buy 1000 on my Lloyds trading account and none available currently. Not sure if it's just Lloyds or too much demand everywhere. I guess spreads and CFDs would be alright, as am not sure if they require real genuine liquidity? hamhamham1"

If you look the rise took an hour to start - I was amazed.
Next week will be interesting, could make this week look like a mill pond - re. Brexit.

Picked up some more at 763p and then the 10% rise..... no doubt you'll be joining the 'ADVFN Hall of Fame' anytime soon.

toon. True. They dropped and I averaged down l week or so ago at 810p. Then I even managed to pick up some more yesterday morning at 763p. Averaged down again. (I bought in first minute yesterday, a total extra of 6000 shares bought about 1/3 in ISA and 2/3 general - yesterday first thing was a telegraphed upside after the previous events in the world the day before - I was genuinely surprised it didn't open 5%+ up - so got in quick)

There's plenty of legs in here over time, as I said earlier, tuck away now until they have doubled.

Per monts .. if it were not for apple this would be 200p in this sell off . Bit of a ridiculous statement. As the market had fallen 2 or 3% , worst case it would be 225p. But it's not!

Monty, any fool can make money in a rising market.
You keep proclaiming your number 1 trader status here, all I can see is that your long on IAG is pretty painful. There is massive over capacity in the air market so desperate airlines are going to drop the pants on prices to win passengers.

Plus all the airlines cheap hedges on fuel are running out, so now and for the next year or two is when the expensive hedges will filter through to their bottom lines.
Making money over the next 12-18 months is going to be a lot harder than over the past few years.
