10/1/2008 11:31 | Reasons: the rise was over reacted.. Okay it is the largest reactor but still 2 are down. expecting a fall now... 1) GOOD:British Energy's Torness reactor resumed service last night after an unplanned outage in late November 2) BAD:The UK nuclear provider still has reactors down at Heysham and Hartlepool after problems in the wire winding raised safety concerns. These will be out for longer than Torness as the problems are more complex and British Energy is working with the regulator to ensure all potential problems are remedied, the spokeswoman said. 3) AND THE UGLY: While the reactor was down, the company also carried out additional maintenance | tlee05
10/1/2008 11:06 | Back in. Chart movements overation and still uncertainy! 2 reactors are still down and will be for a good while. | tlee05

22/11/2007 08:55 | Going by what was said eight days ago, I have to wonder whether management are liars or idiots. Maybe it is time for the conspiracy theory. Suppose the initial view was right, what would suit Government's agenda? Turn a drama into a crisis? Shut down for checks and modifications? Without a full explanation, and as Scribbler says, with drawings, I'm suspicious. One thing's for sure, these dammed wires are going to cost an awful lot of money. | speedy
21/11/2007 19:37 | s69 - no; long Drax so here hoping for bad news! I am all for Nuclear Energy - just doubtful about investing in geritrtic kit! Can anyone direct me to some technical explanation of what these damned wires DO - preferably with drawings! Why is replacing wires a big deal? Can't they just get some ex-Chernobyl boys in to do it on the cheap? | scribbler101 |
