He mentioned the £ was up so I guess he meant £ strength against the $. |
Redbaron - US $ strength HELPS earnings not hurts. |
Biggest shareholder here Capital group increased stake from 16- to 17% |
"Risk on" yesterday.... "risk off" today , utilities selling off as well. |
typical a slow decent run up then rapidly falls off a cliff at break neck speed SHOCKING !!!!!! happens every time |
Yesterday was a 'fear on' day and BATS rose as a 'defensive' stock.
Today it's 'fear off' and yesterday's move has been retraced. Something to do with Trump and tariffs I think.
That's my take on the price action. Of course, that's maybe another way of explaining dollar moves... |
No tobacco news that I can see.Probably dollar strength hurting earnings GBp/USd up to 1.28 |
Yes, very big drop. What have we missed? |
Why the drop today? |
codename ‘Krasnovâ€....translated 'Agent Orange'. I am sure the CIA would know if Trump was a spy.....I mean to say he's not the brightest is he. I am sure it has been reported that he used to have a lapel pin, albeit discreet, which had 'kgb' on it. |
Petersinthemarket "''A former senior Soviet KGB spy chief has claimed that Donald Trump was recruited as a spy by Russian intelligence as early as 38 years ago by his department, and given the codename ‘Krasnov’."

Why wait 6 years to come out with this nugget!
Because of what is going on now is why... |
Lippy4 "tell me why war is coming,is it because of some maniac called putin maybe...??"
Europe wants war is why.
"Europe is Falling & Needs War with Russia – Martin Armstrong"
"Europe Is Falling" - Martin Armstrong Warns "That's Why They Need War" With Russia"
Everyone is overly indebted. Economies are slowing, populations are soaring, but National Debts keep rising.
Not sustainable. |

tell me why war is coming,is it because of some maniac called putin maybe...?? |
Nice juicy gap up there |
As soon as you said newsnight (BBC) I stopped reading. |
Apologies I didn't want to turn this thread into a political debate thread. Please revert back to only discussing BAT |
The US bankrolls the Defence of Europe (it's contributions to NATO are huge) and that's before its $860bn annual defence budget.
US National Debt is $36 trillion and rising.
I'm not surprised the Americans have had enough as theyre effectively bust. The debt is unpayable, so theyll continue printing their currency into oblivion...
"Republican Lawmakers Join Musk In Calling For US To Exit NATO"
US senator joins Elon Musk in calling for withdrawal from NATO
The UN is a busted flush, a knocking shop for the same corrupt world leaders as the League of Nations became.
It's time has come.
UK should also leave the UN and NATO - sign a defence pact with CANUKS - leave the Europeans to finance their own defence. Last thing UK wants, or needs, is to get needlessly dragged into a European war. We are woefully unprepared, underfunded(national Debt out of control here too) and the size of the Armed forces is risible.
We need to spend 5% of GDP on defence, ramp up personnel numbers, for war is coming.
The longer we stay out of it, the longer we have to prepare |
Standing Up to Zelensky in the Oval Office Was Trump’s Finest Hour |
Car1pet "On Newsnight last night the view was that the only reason he can be behaving this way is because the Russia has something on him. Most likely evidence of some very dodgy behaviour when he was in Russia"
Or it could just be the American public is fed up bankrolling Europe's defence, is war weary, and the President wants to avert nuclear war.
We've had warmongering neocons in White House for ages. Likewise in positions of power in UK/EU.
War is the last thing any of us need.
And a nuclear one is the height of idiocy.
Ukraine is of no strategic interest to USA or UK. |
Good to see the TA support line providing what was forecast at 3000 pence, you never know until it happens and look back but I expected to see it bounce off the 12 month trend/support line, and so far it has done exactly that, there is more to TA than tea leaves, as demonstrated.. :o) |
Now Trump has paused weapons supply to Ukraine the markets will rush to defensive stocks like BAT. I'd rather Ukraine continued to receive weapons but Trump has his own personal agenda. On Newsnight last night the view was that the only reason he can be behaving this way is because the Russia has something on him. Most likely evidence of some very dodgy behaviour when he was in Russia. The sooner it is leaked to the press the better and he has to resign. Although hard to see him resigning. |
bats is good in troubled times.Good defensive stock |
I remember some punter on this thread sold BATS at £26 and went long NVDA at $140. Thats gotta hurt... |
I'd sooner be happy holding this than any tech stock atm. all the US markets seem to be rolling over for a long term down trend time will tell. It's all a big question mark |
