Having recently sold my RDSB holding almost 200% up, more with dividends, I am left scratching my head over the BP position purchased at just over 200p back in the dark COVID autumn. Does anyone here think we will ever get up to near 600p? I see the Brent price is losing its political premium and frankly I can see much better value/dividend plays elsewhere in the market. It would leave my portfolio light on oil sector, but is it worth hanging around for another year to maybe get an extra 20% capital gain and about 5% dividend on the current valuation? I want to build up my cash position incase the current global stock market rally unwinds.

Rosneft was given to Lin by Looney to divest. Aka, take it away from my name so I don't get a bad name and make it look like we are trying to find a buyer. Although maybe don't try too hard and maybe in 10 years we might see a windfall

like the last 20 years, dud investment, buybacks are doing nothing now.

they could do 1 for 2 shares and the share would still be £5.

Oil price is quite steady - this will be helpful to oilers. I guess there will be more volatility as we move to Q3/Q4.

With all the buybacks the company is saving £1 billion a year in dividends

They have increased the Dividend in August since COVID, hope they increase it next month but it's not inline we previous years. Fingers crossed though

Hey you're welcome mate. I have been doing as much research as possible. In the Gardian December 2022. "BP took a £18.7bn hit by writing off the shareholding from its books, but still owns the stock. Last month Rosneft’s boss, Igor Sechin, said the British company should reconsider that position and that it had put aside a dividend, in a Russian account, for BP.

and BP 'can't ' find a buyer. One day the value will return as long as the west doesn't nationalise all Russian assets it has trapped in the west.

Rosneft is in a nominee account and dividends are credited. BP will just repeat we have exited Russia and looking to off load.That'the official line. I honestly do not believe that they can't offload to India or China for $20B if they really wanted to. The only issue I can see is if the west confiscates Russian interests in the west to pay for Ukraine as it has been discussed

IMO we will see another 7.27 cents for the next dividend making it *4, then a hike, the dividend history points to raises following pairs or fours of equal payouts..

Not long until we find out.. ;o)

I've read on here by a sensible poster that Rosneft is held in a nominee account where all the dividends are paid into. Look, it might be wrong. But if someone knows differen, please put me right.

Keep overlooking Rosneft - what is the realistic future potential there ?
The whole value has been written off and there seems to be no value attributed to it….
If/when Trump gees in I see a possible peace deal being initiated…. What then?

an 30p special is on my wish list, rosneft is worth 98p.

30p to shareholders
58p to bp
10p to ukraine (just to shut the left up)

Shell Q1 results 2nd May BP Q1 results 7th MayOil prices are at least $5 higher since Q4 and probably already reflected in current share price. Still, if there is no bad news then share price should hold or rise slightly?
