www.wsj.com/articles/transocean-seeks-to-cancel-two-dividend-payments-1440537436

Transocean Ltd. is seeking to cancel the third and fourth installments of its dollar-denominated dividend this year, which the company had already approved in May.

Shares dropped 12% to $10.75 in after-hours trading. Through Tuesday’s close, they had fallen 67% in the past 12 months.

The offshore driller said in February that it planned four installments of 15 cents each, which represented an 80% reduction from the previous payout rate, citing its “cyclical and capital-intensive industry.”

The dividend to be paid in September is from Q2 and of course they won't change it because it's already previously announced. What is a possiblity is that Q3 dividend announced in October will not be yeilding 8%!

Another sickening whipsaw on the Dow. Just the beginning. No chance of stability for quite a while.

It seems likely that legislation will be passed in USA to repeal ban on export of
crude - Clearly this will further 'flood' the oil market (Huge amount of oil in storage)

Oil is down another 6% overnight WTI - $38.24, Brent $42.69

I am aniticipating that BP will likely reduce the dividend back in line with where it previously stood at around 4% yield. It doesn't make economic sense to be paying out 8%+ returns. As long as they are making a profit I see the dividend policy continuing

Not sure what you class as a trend but the UKX is Down 16% in 3 months,
4% from a bear market.

Ftse up by 3%, down by 2 %, up then by 2 %, then down by 4%. This is is how the Ftse 100 will play for the forthcoming month. No trend here just extreme volatility. Reminds me of Nov 2008.Invest now and hold for 6-12 months to see a v.good return. will look to invest in the next 2 weeks or so.

Don't expect 'The Boys' to let 300p break without one hell of a fight. The 300p area looks a distinct possibility now. But expect whipsaw moves here as the market volatility hots up.

If 300p gets broken then the dividend comes under real pressure (if not already with the possibility of sustained low oil prices).

Gloomy outlook, but I can't see many positives. Cash is king!
