I see the planks marked it up a bit today, now will it reflect over here in the morning...always a bit of doubt about that :-(

Not even 10c difference between the london close and the US close so less than 1 pence you need some better glasses or wipe your monitor

Morning all.
Charts looking a bit better. Good to see that Carl-Henric reads this thread. Wonder why he bought 1,000,000 shares in this old rust bucket?

The monkey sent me that link earlier on. Wonder if it's of any significance?

Trade well and prosper Earthlings.......

7th Sept 2015

BP p.l.c. was notified on 7 September 2015 by Carl-Henric Svanberg, Director and Chairman of BP p.l.c., that he purchased 1,000,000 BP ordinary shares (ISIN number GB0007980591) in London on 7 September 2015 at GBP3.430777 per share.

So, by the looks of it the chairman has doubled his holding.

FTSE closed at 6075 If it dropped to 4900 that is -1175 (19.3%).

BP. closed at 336 if minus 19.3% = 271.

BUT it depends on why the FTSE falls and the relative move in oil.

This today:

I can understand your thinking but still think there is a strong link as alot of funds track the ftse 100 so if there is a panic sell off everything is affected. That chart shows they have become somewhat detached in the last 2 months but the movements are very very close

I don't think that there is any point in making that comparison. The fall in oil price has altered the dynamic between BP. and FTSE.

BP and similar oil companies need an oil price rise to restore the previous relatioship.

See comparison chart.

Maybe you can calculate this then, if the FTSE was in the range 4,800 - 5,000 what price would you estimate BP?

My understanding is that Monkey does not come cheap. He makes demands about food, clothing, holidays, etc. I suspect he was still hungover from his holiday when he gave Penycae the BP trade.

If the share price does drop to the June 2010 it will be down on knees time to pray for deliverance.
