The Dow broke its 5 year support line a few days ago and now we are seeing the full force of that break. These whipsaw movements you are seeing are just the start. Expect more huge intraday moves. But expect the trend to be down. It now appears that selling into strength is the way out if you hold shares.

Be careful catching falling knives. I'm watching BP. but I suspect they have further to fall. Expect volatility to increase here, so 5-10% profits could be made quickly.

dow dropped 1000 points and clawed back 700 points. And that is NOT good. It is essentially creating more room for further fall. stay out and get back later on unless you intend to hold it for long term. sub 300 seems more realistic. well done to those who stay out. sorry for compulsive buyers.

great day enjoying, down but enjoying bought a few at 345 then more at 338 then it went to 330p ABSOLUTE BARGAIN.........opportunity for the common man to get a slice of quality cheap and be paid 7.5%.......happy to buy like strutt if given the chance but I very much doubt (haunt me later) if we will see much lower than todays action.

A year or two ago,on this very thread, I used to bang on about the FTSE being fair value at 5700.
Strange that today, the only game in town is to long the Euro against the majors.
