17/12/2014 14:44 | star, anyone who can call it precisely is either very talented, lucky, or perhaps both. For a buy and hold then buy only an amount you can sleep at night with, and try your best to just forget about it, there will continue to big moves in either direction imv, however the current share price may already discount a lot, just imv only. | ![]() essentialinvestor
17/12/2014 14:15 | lots of uncertainty at the moment and a brave man to call the bottom. As oilers and associated industries drop taking with it the wider market, there will be many good stocks at bargain prices for the savvy invester patience is needed Whats the saying buy when everone is selling and sell when everyone is buying | stardrops2
17/12/2014 14:06 | Super - the longs are mainly large funds, it is not as though you have seen a long liquidation i.e. a waterfall decline, this may occur but those players have been trading big time for a long time, admittedly the supply side suggests more falls due to the fight for market share, but storage tanks are pretty full, they may not find a market to sell into so even OPEC supply will be compromised! | ![]() bookbroker
17/12/2014 14:00 | Nerves of steel lol! Seriously though bp at these prices will make you money imo | ![]() supermarky
17/12/2014 13:49 | beginning to wonder if these falls are setting up for a bear trap, there are still many long at higher prices, and the price is continually being talked down to $30,$20,$10, yet there appears a little stabilisation currently, I think you might see a strong squeeze up in the next few days, although market has fallen brutally, oil is essentially undervalued irrespective of oversupply, market are reacting on day-to0day comments but down the line is what counts! | ![]() bookbroker
17/12/2014 13:35 | Mark it was very difficult to buy at that level, at least that was my experience, had to force myself to make those trades. Watching for now. | ![]() essentialinvestor

17/12/2014 13:10 | It could, even to $10, but will it? Posturing and threats to other producers that it's not just just the Arabs who need reign in production. The political implications, even for the low cost middle east producers, would be serious and will likely preclude this eventuality. Putin, in particular, will need to heed their threats as Russia is one of the world's largest producers. It is also a signal to explorers-small and large-"this is not just our problem, it is your shareholders as well". Tactical, it will work and the Arabs will be happy with $70-$80 oil, as will most others. It will seriously affect investment in shale, Artic, Canadian tar sands and deep offshore though. Low prices for now will boost growth which will take up the current excess. Production cuts and drops in capex should medium term bring it to an acceptable level for producers. Patience will pay but pain first though. | ![]() cumnor
