BlueRock Says Kareevlei Production Not Affected By DemonstrationTue, 28th Jan 2020 13:09(Alliance News) - BlueRock Diamonds PLC on Tuesday said production at its Kareevlei diamond mine in the Kimberley region of South Africa was not affected by a demonstration that took place on Sunday.Shares in BlueRock were down 4.2% at 104.00 pence each on Tuesday afternoon in London. The diamond exploration company said that following the demonstration at the mine, in which it holds 74% interest, it is in discussions with the local community to resolve any issues. The Kareevlei diamond mine consists of five known kimberlite pipes, BlueRock said, adding that Kareevlei is in the world's top ten kimberlite sites by carat value with 90% of diamonds found of gem or near-gem quality.Kimberlite is an igneous rock, which sometimes contains diamonds.BlueRock noted that it operates in an area of high unemployment and it therefore maintains regular dialogue with all its stakeholders and takes its corporate social responsibilities very seriously."Production has not been materially affected and we remain confident of achieving our internal budget, whilst we develop longer-term mine plans to optimise the resource," said Executive Chair Mike Houston."We are disappointed that a demonstration was deemed necessary given we maintain regular contact with the local community and government. Our plans, when implemented will result in additional employment, the increased use of local services and have a very positive impact on the community at large," he added.By Ife Taiwo; ifetaiwo@alliancenews.comCopyright 2020 Alliance News Limited. BlueRock posts maiden profit21st January 2020 BY: SIMONE LIEDTKE Aim-listed BlueRock Diamonds turned a profit for the first time during the second half of the 2019 financial year, the success of which was based on the diamond producer having sold 12 675 ct of diamonds for the year, marking an increase of 118% over the year before. While grades and prices per cart had also improved, BlueRock on Tuesday noted that its production volumes had increased by 70% year-on-year to 323 000 t for the 2019 financial year. The combination of the increase in volumes and grade led to a 125% increase in the number of carats produced in the year, the producer said, adding that in all the key performance indicators, BlueRock "has achieved what was a challenging and aggressive guidance".Commenting on the continued success at the producer's Kareevlei diamond mine, in Kimberley, South Africa, BlueRock executive chairperson Mike Houston said the achievement "is testament to the implementation of the revised production strategy", which was implemented by the company's new management in the second quarter of last year. This strategy focuses on stabilising production ahead of maximising the exploitation of the resource, he explained, adding that, to that end, BlueRock was developing plans to effect a further step change increase in production and lower unit costs. The producer also said it expects to report positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation and positive comprehensive income for the second half of 2019, which will exclude noncash adjustments for International Financial Reporting Standard 9 charges and movement in foreign exchange.About 2 085 ct remained on hand at the end of December, which will be placed in the January tender. Further, the first quarter of this year has, so far, started satisfactorily and BlueRock's management expects that, despite the impact of seasonal rains that previously caused significant disruption to operations, the producer will meet its targeted production volumes for the quarter, which are significantly ahead of those achieved in the prior comparable quarter. As BlueRock has been operating at near current capacity – 40 000 t/m – it continues to benefit from increased economies of scale and management remains focussed on cost reduction. The unaudited cost per carat produced, including all costs incurred in South Africa but not those incurred in the UK, in the second half of 2019 fell to $275/ct compared with the cost per carat for August and September 2019 of about $300/ct.This compares to the sale price per carat in the fourth quarter of 2019 of $410/ct. BlueRock expects that, in addition to the cost reductions arising from increased production, there are a number of areas where significant cost savings can be made, including, for example, linking up to the electricity grid, which will reduce the cost of generated power for the plant. The producer confirmed that it continues to investigate other opportunities to reduce costs.

The short term problem is that a lot of PI’s got trapped at £1.25 and above in the rally last Sep/Oct, this was evident by the amount of selling today. If it can break break resistance at £1.50 then I’ll buy in, it most certainly isn’t a share that you try and trade though!

Good results, broadly in line with my expectations for Q4 sales revenues. Production has been very good, they've clearly worked hard through the onset of the rainy season. Strong inventory carried forward to the January sales concluding on Thursday, so should be a very good start to the new year. And unit production costs continue to be reduced.

re: 1533: maybe, but remember that the precedent is that the monthly auction is only commented on to the extent that there are large stones sold. My own guess would be that the company will announce its KPIs for Q4 early next week.
