cabi1, or Grant or maybe its FBT1,or perhaps @WolfieCab. Give up with your fantasy share buying. Did the £10k your promising to invest come from justgiving.com? I do sympathise with health issues but give it up now.

Have you seen how filthy those delivery people are.

I’d rather pick it up myself.

NickB.

Not happy that Grabyo also got a mention, as they look like a major rival.

Holding off the £10k I was going to put in.

Think we could go lower with this Coronavirus, especially if NAB is cancelled.

Loads of sporting events going to be cancelled, so not looking great for the BIRD for the time being.

I think the U.S population are starting to panic as well, so we could see another sell off.

IMHO.

At least we got a mention from AWS!

I agree that it will most likely get cancelled although industry announcements will still happen.

Plus we don’t want IM or SS getting it, because the share price would collapse.

Yup.

Anyway - even if we are on a stand, the ROI on 20 years of trade events appears to be Zero.

Might just save us some costs.

The NAB Show is still scheduled to go ahead. One exhibitor is:

Amazon Web Services
Where: South Hall (Upper) — SU100 , South Hall (Upper) — SU2202
Open To: All Registered Attendees

Media solutions from Amazon Web Services (AWS) make it easy to build reliable, broadcast-quality video workflows in the cloud. These services allow you to create professional-quality media experiences for your viewers without the time, effort, and expense typically required to run specialized video equipment in a traditional data center. With pay-as-you-go pricing and fully automated resource scaling, you can accommodate any size audience without significant capital investment. Instead of managing complex infrastructure, media solutions from AWS let you focus on content to give viewers a great user experience. AWS demonstrations at NAB Show include AWS Elemental, AWS Thinkbox, Amazon Machine Learning, and Amazon Content Delivery services. AWS will host several members of the Amazon Partner Network (APN) in its booth including Arch Platform Technologies, Blackbird, Databricks, Grabyo, Imagine Communications, INKA Entworks, Insys Video Technologies, LTN Global, Meta, Qumulo, Overcast, Ownzones, Tangent Labs, Teradici, Veset, and Vidispine.

though end of the day it's there to play back video. so that is not really unique!

though it does do it in a novel way.

i think if they put up the word unique somebody could try to shoot it down. however i don't know of anything else like it, which ticks the unique box for me.

I recall discussion of 21 features at the time. I don't think the word 'unique' was mentioned.

The important 'feature' imo was the ability to wipe the original 'copy' thus wiping all copies. This could be a magnificent, game-changing feature...but it needs a google-sized operator to make it work...thus the delay, which might become infinite.

I hold.

hi farr1066

"I can't see them just shelving it"

it's embedded / used in the platform already so no chance of that. the only thing that might get dumped (or rather put on ice) is the firm's eagerness to expend cash and energy to promote it as a saleable entity in and of itself.

it has a lot of potential. it's very unique. there are some good arguments for adopting it:
- ability to withdraw content from public view
- control who can view content
- it might help frustrate privacy (though ultimately i think this is flogging a dead horse)
- instant publication (it's a renderless player)
- clipboard type behaviour for video
- ubiquity of java script (where it runs, your player will run, no more codec issues!)
- ability to upgrade / deploy new features
- personalise the viewing experience
- frame accurate play back / forward
- etc.

the trouble is that playback of video at present might have some flaws but on the whole it is fit for purpose.

either there is some niche application where it can get a foot in the door or perhaps some legal avenue to make it easier for the likes of twitter to avoid being fined for not removing content quickly enough.

"ai"

it has come up in two contexts mainly (from memory).

firstly the use of ai within the codec to achieve better compression afaik.

secondly the use of ai to automate the editing process and / or selection of shots such as to produce highlights (wimbledon).

if you automate editing why have blackbird?

a human is needed at some point if only to check the content, if they're doing this then they also need something to fine tune any automated work - i.e. blackbird.

at wimbledon ibm did automated hghlights and it came in for a lot of stick. that's a good use case for blackbird. blackbird also integrate with an ai provider i believe.

Mk can answer the AI route as he knows more than me on that.

I am here just to make money, player will be huge if it is what I saw.

In the meanwhile we are the only true cloud editing system, US Department of State verified, Bloomberg using platform out there.

Am I worried about my investment? Hell no.

Yehaa
