stuff goes on that has yet to see the light of day... Nick Lisher has been on board for 1 month....I wanted to ask him what his early targets were after joining as a NED ...but the question wasn't asked....Sumit clearly didn't want to have Nick give away what he might be up to, exactly |
Pace still seems glacial.
Another month nearly over and not a whole lot has changed. |
Collaboration does indeed supports the project speed.... given that early input and feedback and the ability to be a collaborative "shape-shifter" with regards to the video creative direction is what ensures the finished products are delivered with maximum profit margin and as per clients changing specifications |
Pokerchips Much more version editing needed then!
Situation that then develops is that agencies have to adopt fast turnaround collaborative editing workflows to be competitive with their clients.
In other words they can’t afford not using the latest collaboration tools otherwise they lose business. |
As META have suggested ( and others too) ...make many versions of your video if you are wishing to sell a product or service.... and META etc will pick the right video to fit for each of their users ...using the vast amount of data they hold on everyone under their umbrella
This is what is happening with ad agencies.... they now use AI to customise a video into various versions tailored to different customer profiles and different culture locations ... make your content appear more inclusive rather than expect one single version can possibly fit all That is now a common and expected ad agency pitch |
As Salmon says the conversion rate will definitely be affected by the type of user.
Low conversion at the bottom end mass market but high in the middle and very high at the top.
I suspect at the top end they won’t even bother looking at the free version.
The entry ticket price is very low for a pro it’s not much business risk at £30 per month!
One advantage of video over other apps is that you WILL very quickly run out of free storage so will upgrade if you are doing real work.
So conversion rate could be misleading since the free riders will always massively outnumber the quality customers.
Still interesting though because free can still be valuable |
not forgetting work flow efficiency and productivity. |
Nick2412 Thank you for sharing the very informative relevant article. Hopefully the fact that elevate is targeting professionals who are more than likely to require the "extras" in the paid version, will give elevate a better than average conversion rate to the paid model(s).
I read recently that Vimeo has 260 million active users, 90% of which are paying for one of four subscription plans.
The figure I had read for Canva was that in Q1 2024, they had 170 million users of which 16 million are paying subscribers.
I am no expert on this subject, but logically, it would make sense to me that the conversion rate can be significantly affected by the nature of the customer's business, the product that elevate is offering, elevate's target customers and the different subscriptions that it offers. |
Canva's conversion rate is estimated at somewhere between 3% to 5%. Seems to be the cited rate for some of he video editing tools as well. |
BIRD CHART. Nice bull flag..
No advice
BWTFDIK SSB Been letting it do what it needs.
The massive bull flag should see a break above. Target 1 12.25 Target 2 Look for 18 gap fill. |
" I'm sure it will be improved soon, but the new, basic titling can't, as far as I can tell, write more than one line of text. "
Personally I would keep Text simple for now... offer more advanced text and indeed AI subtitles to paid customers or indeed wait, much closer to paid launch ..
I would have thought the last thing BIRD wants right now is to attract the Tik-Tok type crowd, most of whom would just want to take a freebie account , want free storage and the use of the "populist" type features razzamatazz that professionals don't need...now looking for text and subtitles as freebies
Given TikTok reputation I am not so sure Elevate would want to be associated with some idea that they assist youngsters to get addicted to the App and then having their data improperly used... as a result of basic Tik-Tok creators using elevate... the association
Despite Text being a popular request, there are creative ways to add text into video or indeed use the audio....I think they have done the right thing to hold its use, and subtitle use back..for now |
Understood bonio
So my question is indeed effectively - what did the company tell Allenby |
Allenby will have no idea. Nada.
All they will do is package what the company tells them.
Which is why all their notes are just a cut and paste from the company's finals or interims. |
Allenby don't say what conversion rate they assumed. They use an average revenue per month per user which was originally £25 annd then was increased in the second version to £36. Presumably they will have the free version for say 3 mths with perhaps 3 or 4 pais for enhanced versions ranging fron say £15 to £65 |
I’m sure they have modelled the costs.
It’s also not incremental per user because we are buying bulk AWS capacity
And key advantage
We are VERY efficient! |
I would imagine that free users will only get a couple of GB storage to edit personal and home videos and 'try out' the software. That doesn't cost much, around 25p per month per GB, so maybe 50p per month or £6 per year for free users? x 300,000 that's £2m per year, so it bumps up the breakeven point, or requires a 5% conversion rate - that's if you assume that Bird haven't got any bulk discount from AWS.As johnveals says, I'm sure they've got it worked out...If users and subscribers look like going hockey stick then the share price will be at 30-50p anyway, and raising more money to fund growth won't be a problem... |
Text drop shadow
One thing that is missing is drop shadow on the text to make it stand out which is important on difficult video backgrounds
However there is a cheat in how to do this.
Once you type the text on say the top track say in white put another text effect on the track below and copy and paste the words
Then select black for the text colour and shift click the x y postition on the lower text use shift key then drag XY for fine adjustment
You will then get a nice drop shadow you can also adjust the opacity of the black text if you like |
Yes only one line of text You could use the next video track for the second line.
I wouldn’t do too much text anyway it’s a video not a word document viewers won’t read it. |
I'm confident someone, somewhere, has thought about this. |
although cyberbub if we have 300k users, then our costs will also be potentially significantly higher, if they are regular (free) users, that's a lot of processing power we are paying for.
i do agree that if we get traction quickly, then we should hit break even (and better) quite quickly ... i hope the development is on target for a product that masses will pay for in Q1 25 ... if it is we are home and dry, if not then who knows, can we raise enough cash before we run out. |
That's the plan. |
The last interim results showed the company losing around £1.5m, or £3m a year.If we assume that a paying subscription yields approx £30 x 12 = £360 per year, then breakeven is at less than 10,000 paying users. So even at a 3% conversion rate (which I consider too low) that's less than 300,000 overall users to hit breakeven.Of course we're aiming for profitability, but IMO if breakeven is seen to be approaching by the end of Q1, with subscriptions increasing rapidly, 8p will be a speck in the rear view mirror.GLA NAI |
Yes, multiple 'Generators' can be created and stacked. |
