17/5/2001 18:19 | point taken but surely newton investment funds are hardly about to buy vast amounts of shares in a company that is going to the wall in 2 weeks time. that would be futile and seriously raise a few fund holders eyebrows. also the other institutional investors such as prudential have not ditched their holding. it will be interesting to see who's actually sold - by way of rns showing the reduction of share holding. if there is no rns within the next 5 working days then it would indicate that it was a purchase from available shares. at the moment the picture looks more positive than say last week but i understand what you are saying - i will be closely monitoring the situation for any developements however big or small. however i do not feel an ieh scenerio happening here but of course one never knows. what is your view on the reason for the price rise today on smallish volume? and can it be sustained? if for example it could get back to 18p then bsn fulfils the csfb convertible bond criteria and therefore would have sufficient funds available to get to profitability providing the cash burn rate is dramatically reduced as planned (see latest afx/rns news) lets see what happens tomorrow regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 17:55 | I reckon BSN are going to be OK in the long run.... they'll get the finance, Dan will go and start a waistcoat trading website, and pigs might fly. IF BSN gets the money (I wouldn't give them any more!!) then they will, undoubtedly, fly. Thats when i'll jump in. I might not get the full benefit of getting in now, but at least I wont lose the lot. The week before Independant Energy (IEH) went bust, everybody thought it was well on the way to recovery, including me. If BSN goes you WONT get a chance to get out. Nobody had a chance to get out of IEH!! | super7
17/5/2001 17:33 | if it ever gets there again i'm looking at early retirement regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 17:27 | Well it was £2.30 some time ago. | haystack
17/5/2001 16:34 | What happened to the £2.40 by 2002 deal? | jellytots
17/5/2001 16:33 | looks a reasonably positive day to me. quite a hike in price considering not a high volume day. 10.5% not bad - even with a few sells at the end regards here's hoping for some announcement very soon regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 16:24 | Mike you are right about wagner but he is on his merry way. BSN will recover from this and be a much stronger company with better management. The current price represents the doomsday scenario of selling all their assets. If they get finance which I believe is likely wBSN will be on the roasd to recovery. Yes they may go under but SmartLogik & investments will give 8-9p a share. Dont see this as risky. What a bargain. I stand strongly buy my stance in this co at this price. If Im proved to be wrong well I shall be man enough to admit it. Dont see that as a possibility now, Spear | spear
17/5/2001 16:21 | yeah but look at the excitment your missing out on!!!! If your not in you can't win I think it will get the money myself gut feeling keep smiling | sharemaiden
17/5/2001 16:19 | M means MM to MM trade. The price is rarely at the mid price. If an MM neess the shares for atrade thn the price is usually at the offer. If an MM has shares that he does not want and passes them on, then the price is at the bid. MMs do not normally buy shares on their own account. They try and avoid taking positions themselves. They operate in a similar way to a bookmaker making a book for a race. They are sometimes short or long though, this is usually because of a series of trades in one direction. Remember they have to trade if they are showing a price that is on the bid or offer and the size is not more than Normal Market Size. It is interesting that there are 11 MMs for BSN, but only 2 will buy shares from you at the moment, the rest have set their Bid price at a level where they don't have to trade. | haystack
17/5/2001 16:14 | LOL, Er, I think BSN is a strong buy.... have I mentioned this before. Try not to sell out too cheaply chaps. I will say it again... Share of the year from this price. Spear | spear
17/5/2001 16:09 | just the 10.5% so far today somethings afoot quite a sharp rise on not massive volume would'nt you say regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 15:57 | Exciting day tomorrow, do we think? | jellytots
17/5/2001 15:50 | Look at the buys now ! it's on the up, up, up....... almost + 8% | eurekanet
17/5/2001 15:50 | Moving up! | shols
17/5/2001 15:50 | MM just got another 100k @ 10.5..??? | mjf123
17/5/2001 15:40 | Still it shows that the shares are in demand then. Do the MM's ever buy shares? Cheer up Haystack, sound a bit down to me. What does an M on a sale mean? Does it show the reverse? Are you sure that the MM's don't use this as some sort of code, as whenever there is an M on a trade, the stock always seems to be doing much better than other stocks on the LSE. The top 10 risers on the day nearly always have M transactions where as ramped stocks never have them. Are you sure you are right, Haystack? Where can I find more info on this. Why do ADVFN call it MM buying and MM selling on the top lists then. I would like to challenge you and say you are wrong, therefore. | jellytots
17/5/2001 15:27 | yes 5 days is the notifiable period ie 1 week we will have to wait and see if any reductions are forthcoming surely the mm would have bought at the mid and not the ask if what you say is the case. strange how the ask price rises immediately after though. regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 15:25 | You are not obliged to notify for over a week after a notifyable transaction. We will probably have wait to see where the shares came from. The MMs are not buying in as you call it. The MM to MM transaction is just that. someone sold some shares and the MM who bought them did not want them and passed them to another MM who may have had a customer for them or to fill a trade that he could not cover and had to get some from another MM. | haystack
17/5/2001 15:04 | strange that mm's buy in at 10p then immediately after the ask increases to 10.5 not the sign of a downward movement thats for sure buyers coming in now - slowly buy surely regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 15:03 | Obviously people in the know. Hope something happens soon. | jellytots
17/5/2001 14:39 | my sentiment exactly dont know quite whats up but for sure something is going on mm's holding indicates price movement upwards to me when did you ever see an mm selling out for a loss does'nt happen watching with much interest at the mo hoping for some form of positive announcement shortly so are the mm's by the look of it regards tim | raging bull1
17/5/2001 14:38 | Look, why else would the MM's buy £29,500 worth of stock 3 days ago? 2 million shares at 10p = £200,000. Oh look, MM's have just bought another 100,000 at 14:17 that's a furthur 10,000. MM's have now invested £39,500. Don't you think something's cooking here? | jellytots
17/5/2001 14:33 | looks positive to me and no its not prudential shedding that would have to be notified this is a purchase for newton investment management and also 392k for segfunds whoever segfunds are no one buys in heavy into a company thats going to the wall now do they? price starting to move up as well mm's buying another 100k and have by my calculation £44k holding before the 10k today somethings definately up watching with interest regards tim | raging bull1
