Seeing as there are a lot of visitors here and ad-blocking is being discussed.

Can I urge everyone to write to their MP's and ask that after Brexit, websites will no longer be required to put up effing pop-up cookie warnings.

This ONLY arose because of the EU and in the UK the IAB issued guidance and a vague warning about possibly going for site owners for non-compliance. Although of course we all know the IAB doesn't do that, just as it hardly ever prosecuted anyone for not putting 'advertorial' on magazine advertorials.

The most important point is that it does absolutely nothing for the privacy issues that are actually important that are a real risk to people actually losing money through clicking on bogus emails etc. etc.

Its spooky to be followed around by a product that you looked at 3 days ago, but its not dangerous compared to for instance not having an annual automatic virus protection update.

Its playing to the privacy lobby without actually doing anything significant - its a political move.

If you could vote now to stop all the cookie alerts, would you ?
Or if you could simply agree to them all and be done with it ?

Not forgetting their successful £300k disposal to Bidstack Aiden...

Not useful! But still, what a coup that piece of business was.

All under control.Following a $400,000 seed investment from Mercia Fund Managers in 2017, Pubguard has achieved positive growth and has successfully bolstered its team to support significant client wins, including some of the world's largest publishers and app developers including EA and Under Armour

'What one trend do you think will disrupt the video market the most over the next few years?

CH: Advertising vs subscription business models will be high on the agenda with the introduction of so many streaming choices. First party data, combined with loyal, engaged audiences and the interactive purchase element of CTV, mean that the advertising opportunities are ripe for those who enable it.

We know that consumers will accept ads for free services (Spotify) and a recent survey suggested that 78% of digital video viewers are willing to watch advertising in exchange for free content*. There will come a time when subscription businesses will need to accept advertising to cover their mounting costs, and seeing who does this first will be fascinating, '

I GUESS we ARE IN A DIFFERENT CAMP but overlap in some ways.

Nice write up from CRAMMOND11's CARAT report. Gives an idea into what these boys are thinking:

"POST-PRODUCTION ADVERTISING

The rise of video content in recent years has forced producers to innovate new ways to fund content. Meanwhile, the growth of ad avoidance has forced advertisers to look for unblockable and non-intrusive ways to place their messages in a video environment. As a result, more and more start-ups are seizing the opportunity
with post-production advertising solutions.

Mirriad has a technology that puts ads into TV programming in post-production through computer generated imagery. The company takes TV content, for example, soap operas or talent shows, identifies places where ads would fit, and adds them. For instance, it might be an outdoor ad on a wall two characters are walking past, a can of drink on a table, or even a car parked on the street. All viewers
see the same brands when the programme is shown on TV; the technology is not yet programmatic. (The same technology was used to put one car into the
film iRobot when it was shown in Asia, and a dierent one when it was shown in the West). This technology is now live in the US, China and parts of Europe.

Augmented reality start-up Supponor is reinventing in-stadium billboards. Sports fans around the world can watch the same FC Barcelona match but see dierent ads on the pitch-side boards. Supponor also uses real-time data to place premium ads at crucial moments of the game, such as goals or penalty kicks.

In addition to major European football markets, it’s AR ad solutions are used in the NFL, NHL, and Formula 1. Bidstack puts ads into streaming video games.
In-game advertising has been tried before, but as a concept makes much more sense now that many games are played for free online. The ads integrate into the game at the developer level and then can be targeted programmatically based on
who is playing, location, time of day, and so on.

Winners:
- Content creators, now able to monetise and fund content in new ways

Losers:
- Audiences, who now potentially have more ad clutter in their viewing and playing.

Implications:
- These new channels are closed networks, which makes them unblockable.
- Beware; this also means that measurement is specific to the platform and provided by the channel. This makes it siloed and not directly comparable with other channels.
- Where ads are placed into games, there will be a secondary audience of people watching the gameplay on channels like Twitch.

Thanks Mcfly79 - very useful - had never seen that. Looks like China has seen a large growth in numbers as from memory it was 5-6% historically (naturally this is a snapshot of a point in time - was there any long term % trends?)

I'm expecting a positively linear correlation between gamers playing and inventory value for what it's worth.

So maybe £120m FM20 inventory value now?

Will be good for BIDs to update in that regard.

Responding to a question earlier. FM20 is available in most countries around the world through Steam, including China.

steamspy.com track a geographical split of active player over time (based on the location the player entered into Steam). The latest, as at 22nd Dec, is as follows:

UK 16%
China 15%
France 13%
Turkey 9%
Canada 7%
Denmark 7%
Poland 7%
Other countries 26%
