That’s the impression I got from the limited stuff I’ve heard. He’s the kind of guy that would sell his entire portfolio in March 09. Cuts off his right leg to stem the bleeding in the left.

He had previously mentioned that he was over-exposed to Bidstack in an earlier podcast - might be referring to selling some then. He still holds and says BIDS is potentially one of the most exciting stocks on aim.

Interesting, good spot 2prismo sounds like he is skittish on markets as much as anything else.

Wouldn’t worry too much, he knows as much as we do.

If anything I’d be happier if he reduced his focus on it - not keen on his style. Very trader like and attracts the wrong type of investors.

Looks like Justin Waite has turned tail on BIDS and sold a chunk - bleating on about market cap size and the fact that it's already 8-bagged on his weekend podcast - knew it would happen - what an absolute helmet. He's now buying into a gold ETF when all the smart money was buying gold related stuff six months to a year ago.

I was also realising that in those big esports events advertisers would be very keen to put their ads natively in the games in front of an auditorium/stadium audience...if your ads are in the earlier rounds is one thing, if they are in the final then that gets viewed repeatedly and is even more valuable

The thing for me was whether modders could release a patch to turn them off but it looks like the billboards are pretty invincible in FM. Good work BIDS and SI there as these modifications can be very sophisticated.

I looked at the comments on a gaming chatroom earlier in the year, and there were, understandably.some gamers discussing how to rid themselves of adverts.
After all we do here if we can!
The native ads though are like real life, and you can't get away from them ,so in that sense are more realistic to everyday life.

Agreed, when researching I looked on the forums of football manager and there were a few negative comments about being a 50+ man and having to google who Nicky Minaj was after seeing the ads. That said 2m downloads and only a handful of comments to be fair.

Lukehold, I really can't see how it could do anything but enhance the experience, as it looks so natural. I am not a gamer, wrong generation, and i don't like football, but was amazed at the realism and enjoyed watching those clips!

Makes sense for EA to dip a toe into this type of advertising before rolling out across their entire portfolio. The reward is immense for EA but the risk is there, if it doesn't work or they get slated for the types of ads showing it will hugely affect them. Volta looks the perfect first game. Just one issue I can see is you can switch off the walls/hoarding depending on the gameplay you want.https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/fifa/fifa-20/news/pitch-notes-fifa-20-volta-football

Yummy Bacon over at LSE posted a nice piece:

“You heard it here first
For those who are unaware EA has announced a new game mode in FIFA 20 called "Volta". It is essentially street based e-football with several virtual venues...all very clearly littered with adverts within the natural game spaces.

Here is the promo video they released yesterday, it is very much worth watching:

If EA do not monetise this mode, even just to test the waters with a view to a larger roll out into the rest of the game and even other franchises, then they are bloody stupid. I strongly believe that prior to the game release at the end of September there will be a BIDS/EA deal for Volta e-football announced.

It just makes too much sense to not happen. No guarantees of course, but just look at those Volta venues. Also no conflict of interest with any officially licensed clubs or sponsors, which will require a bit more time to work out.”

So glad the footie is back btw, should take my mind off BIDS a little.

JD you little cat fish!!

I know you said you were putting a 3 year shift into 1 but I thought it was metaphorical and all that ;)

Appreciate the effort though - I really like how He listens to people and adapts. Him as a person is a key reason I’m here.

In JD we trust.

Check out his new DP here:

I tell you though there's a bloke on twitter into designing logos for the Esports
community and I bet he's making a fortune .
He's certainly got a lot of followers.

Well I am older, but being honest I do it in the hope I can pass any thing onto my family in the future.
I think Bidstack is absolutely great and I have faith in the company, but I don't trust the stock market at the moment.
Am a little bit in protective mode, generally, and have some gold investments.
