04/9/2010 21:04 | no wonder the union clowns are worried.... BA passenger numbers defy strike threat Friday, 3 September 2010 British Airways passenger figures held up well last month despite pre-August fears that the airline's ongoing cabin crew dispute could cause travel disruption. BA carried 3,154,000 passengers in August 2010 - only a fraction fewer than the 3,157,000 in August 2009. There had been concerns that cabin crew strikes might have been called that would have affected August Bank Holiday travel. But the month passed without any industrial action, with passenger figures suggesting that forward bookings were not badly affected by the threat of strikes. BA's UK and European route passenger numbers rose 1.8% last month compared with August 2009. Asia Pacific traffic fell 11.1%, while North and South America numbers - including the Caribbean - were down 2.9% and Africa and Middle East passengers fell 0.1%. BA's planes flew 84.4% full last month compared with a figure of 84.7% in August 2009. | anony mous
03/9/2010 15:40 | regarding the passenger numbers BA reported today........ Union Unite described the figures, in particular within premium classes, as "worrying." A Unite spokesman said: "Willie Walsh has failed to recapture those passengers he lost last year, and has in fact lost even more. Passengers pay for service and stability and while Willie Walsh continues to wage war on his workforce he can offer customers neither." LOL ! i wonder if unite had anything to do with this ? LOL ! | anony mous
02/9/2010 20:22 | the twisted comic idiot Duncan Holley returns ! British Airways Cabin Crew Threaten Christmas Strike 02-09-2010 British Airways' cabin crew might walk off the job yet again, this time during the busy holiday season, if talks between both sides go nowhere. Workers informed customers a strike could happen around Christmas. According to a Unite union spokeswoman, new strike ballots were always an option, with a massive meeting scheduled for this coming Monday September 6 to discuss further action. The reason for striking during the extremely hectic holiday season is simple - it puts a lot of pressure on the airline. Commenting on the possibility of a mass exodus of cabin crew members this December, branch secretary for the British Airlines Stewards and Stewardesses Association, Duncan Holley, stated: "It would be prudent for the travelling public to take this into account and make alternative arrangements to ensure their holiday travel plans are not wrecked." | anony mous
01/9/2010 13:34 | Thats good. BA seem to be gaining in confidence. It is only by ridding itself of these disaffected members of the cabin crews that it will be able to get back to full profitability. | ![]() selborne_edge

19/8/2010 07:57 | and The Telegraph... BAA settles airport pay dispute on worse terms than BA Trade union Unite has hailed a strike-averting pay deal from airports operator BAA as a benchmark for the aviation industry despite it being lower than the offer from British Airways to its disgruntled cabin crew. | anony mous
19/8/2010 07:56 | 19 Aug 2010: AIRPORT pay row union Unite was accused of hypocrisy last night after freezing its staff's wages. Its leaders were threatening to cause bank holiday flight chaos by telling BAA workers to strike over a one per cent salary increase offer. But The Sun can reveal the deal for Unite's own employees this year is ZERO. Unite has about 1,000 staff across the UK, responsible for looking after 1.6 million members. The planned BAA strike at six major airports was called off this week after the union won a two per cent pay rise and a guaranteed bonus of £500 for workers. Unite chiefs Tony Woodley and Derek Simpson - on a package of £135,330 and £196,497 respectively - have also been instrumental in securing improved pay and conditions this year for British Airways and Fujitsu workers. A furious union source said: "It is hypocrisy of the highest order for Unite to go chasing after a pay deal for BAA workers while imposing a freeze on their own. "It is effectively a pay cut. Woodley can afford not to take an increase. "What about staff struggling to make ends meet?" | anony mous
