Never thought the bulls would get so nervous so fast.

No new news today, so this is an irrational mass panick-selling I suppose !

Gee what happened to drop this to 280 ?? Too bloody late.

After the merger we start again, shorting the bumps.

But must remember, bumps always go higher than we think; dips go lower.

Forget your shorts and get your skirts on.
Less you forget they still have a dispute to resolve.
......................................
This week we expect to find out the result of the ballot for industrial action among cabin crew.

While we all hope to see an end to this dispute, we must make sure our contingency plans are in place. If we are faced with further industrial action, we are confident that we are ready to fly 100 per cent of our longhaul programme and a significant proportion of shorthaul at Heathrow. We would also run a full schedule from Gatwick and London City.

Today, we are launching a new recruitment campaign for more volunteer cabin crew to enable us to build on this flying programme if we face a prolonged period of action.

Volunteering

Due to the tremendous support and effort you showed during the previous strikes, we were able to keep our flag flying and support our customers and our cabin crew colleagues who came to work.

The response we received across the airline was fantastic with every department volunteering to Back BA in the air and on the ground.

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to support our customers and colleagues and see how other areas of the business function. Most of the feedback from the thousands who have volunteered already has been extremely positive and they found the experience really enjoyable.

Backing BA – in the air

Today we have launched the chance for more colleagues to train and work alongside cabin crew.

The training course takes 21 days to complete and will require a large level of commitment as there is a lot to learn. You will also need permission from your line manager before applying.

How to volunteer

If you would be willing to volunteer for both the training and the subsequent work in the air we will ask you to register via the homepage of the intranet.

The application process will take around 30 minutes to complete and you will need to have your passport on hand.

Customer Support Programme

If a strike goes ahead, we will also need volunteers for a number of other key roles to support our customers and colleagues on the ground. Last time, the response was overwhelming with over 8,500 shifts covered during the period of disruption.

When we know the details of any strike action, there will be a wealth of information on the intranet to help you choose which role would be right for you, and again, you should also speak with your manager before you volunteer.

In the meantime volunteers are advised to make sure their details are up to date in the CSP booking tool

Thank you for your support.

NH everyone is piling into the stock
NH ahead of the Iberia reweight
British Airways PLC (BAY:LSE): Last: 304.60, up 7.6 (+2.56%), High: 304.90, Low: 296.00, Volume: 5.45m
NH here's a little broker desk note on that
NH We still have over a week before the event, but British Airways are to have an
indexing upweight in the FTSE100, post the merger with Iberia, when they become
Intl Consolidated Airlines (IAG).

Timetable of events:
Friday 21st Jan 2011 – Brit Airways & Iberia suspended from trading for entire
day.

Monday 24th Jan 2011 (mkt open) – Brit Airways will be replaced by IAG on a 1

for 1 basis in the FTSE100.

Monday 24th Jan 2011 (mkt close) – IAG's weighting will increase to reflect the
new shs. BA's weighting within the all share rises to 29bp's from 17bp's. We
think this equates to between 50mln & 70mln shs to be purchased in and around
the event.

British Midland International said it is reviewing its domestic network at Heathrow that will include reducing services to Manchester.
The Lufthansa-owed subsidiary has also mooted the possibility of closing its loss-making Gatwick route in a move that would gift British Airways a monopoly on domestic routes.

Anon re them chanting WW out I think that's why they have dragged the ballot process out, lets be honest it could have been called and finished a lot sooner. I don't think it is a coincidence they have timed it to finish after the merger. WW officially goes upstairs and a new man will be in charge of the BA side. So in theory they will be negotiating with the new man, if they can get an agreement they will blame the whole dispute on WW and the fact that as soon as he goes they get an agreement, proves it. I also think this is why Woodley has stayed on to finish the negotiation; he is already on record as saying WW's replacement is a more reasonable person. I just hope BA do the same as Unite and let WW complete the negotiations and don't use his promotion as an excuse to cave in.

If their mantra Williw,Willie,Willie-out,out,out is an indication of their intelligence I wouldn't want to be on a plane with them in charge of security etc.They are so juvenile and a poor advert for Britain's premier airline.The Unite Union are clearly demonstrating that they have learned nothing since the Thatcher era and they and their silly shortsighted membership will be the ultimate losers.

Fifteen hundred British Airways (BA) cabin crew packed into a meeting at Kempton Park racecourse on Monday of this week.

Workers are balloting for strikes against a range of attacks from BA boss Willie Walsh. They are in fighting mood. Before any speeches, crew chanted, "Willie, Willie, Willie-Out, Out, Out!"

Newly-elected general secretary of their Unite union, Len McCluskey, promised "continued support and solidarity" for Bassa members, the cabin crew section of Unite.

He condemned the sacking last week of Nicky Marcus, a Bassa rep, calling it "an absolute disgrace".

Workers gave Nicky a standing ovation.

~~~~~~~ how sad. These 1500 crew need to be kicked out asap,
and get their own standing ovation in a job centre.
Hope Willie Walsh continues his hard stance.
The losers at the end will be these cabin crew, absolutely no doubt.
Smicker - it has happened so many times, whether trying to buy on a low, or shorting on a high point.
The spikes are bigger there, and masses of people get stopped out.
You either have a small chance of losing a LOT of money; or a large chance of losing a small amount. Depending where you put the stops.
