There is no doubt Batm have the equipment, know-how and several strings to their bow.

More importantly the current team are working hard and seem to be winning.

Having access to high speed connections have been proven to be economically beneficial to areas where they have been implemented. It even makes a difference to real estate values. The solutions that BATM offer are well paired to providers like smaller utilities who can basically do their own thing. This is what the RUS initiative was all about. The problem has been the lack of incentive for providers as the article correctly highlights.
The Israeli Government sought to tackle this at a government level as they realize the important advantage they will give business to compete.
Even areas that have fibre op do not have end to end connections.
As far as the rest of the world being up to speed this is not the case at all and its only pockets that have the real show.
Where I am in Eastern Canada you have to pay bills and government remittances online, home postal deliveries are being phased out. Luckily we have end to end high speed connections where we are but many in Canada like the States do not and its a problem that needs to be addressed at Government level IMO.
In so many ways this explains the frustrations that the company have in trying to secure contracts of any size and its all coming to a head.

Competition in others parts of the world, especially with speed.

The picture is pretty wide. It seems the USA have been slow to step up to the real world.

With the adventurous telephone manufacturers adding lots of goodies the new market place will demand providers beef up supply, or the likes of Google/Microsoft will take over.

Related: Silicon Valley is fed up with slow Internet speeds
The problem with fiber networks is that they're hugely expensive to install and maintain, requiring operators to lay new wiring underground and link it to individual homes. Since 1996, cable operators have invested $210 billion in broadband networks and other infrastructure, according to the National Cable and Telecommunications Association.
Since there's little competition in the broadband industry, some industry experts believe that there's little incentive for broadband providers to dramatically beef up their bandwidth and drastically improve their infrastructure.

FSE> noticed this paragraph in an article about local/rural utilities becoming providers for high speed networks. It does illustrate the point I have been making about BATM Telco troubles in securing contracts of any size. Its the same for their peers.... FWIW

We'll probably be sitting at sub 20p for as long as they make a loss.
Nice to see momentum though.

Thanks Reeltime. Greek to me but reckon some provider like Cisco might pay 100ml for this little gadget and its patents alone. Hope they are working hard to keep it ahead of the competitors. With a bit of luck BVC's device could become industry standard within its own arena and what then. Dreaming. But good news all the same.

No need for an oops JD it was the first time the company made any announcement on the subject and as you say the merge into the Telco arm was news albeit I think they share the same building. There would have to be some cost savings in keeping them under one roof and some savings in infrastructure costs. Probably why we don't ever get any figures from vigilant itself.
I would like to know what their turnover is and some idea how they are doing as its not broken down in the results for some reason.....

BATM Advanced Communications Limited

("BATM" or "the Group")

BATM deploys surveillance solution in new CCTV system in Islington

Solution will enable police officers, and the council's Anti-Social Behaviour team, to respond more quickly to incidents

BATM Advanced Communications Limited (LSE: BVC; TASE: BATM), a leading provider of real-time technologies for the networked telecoms and medical laboratory equipment markets, is pleased to announce that it is deploying a surveillance solution for Islington Council's new CCTV system. The contract, valued at $0.8m, was awarded through the Group's wholly-owned subsidiary, Vigilant Technology, which was recently merged into BATM's Telecom division.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Group is supplying an intelligent internet protocol surveillance solution at Islington's new CCTV control and command centre, consisting of a video recording platform and a unique video wall/virtual matrix for displaying video feeds that enables all the sightings from cameras in one area or estate to be seen at the same time. It will bring together more than 1,000 cameras across Islington in a single centre that will be continuously monitored and will allow live or recorded footage to be made instantly available to devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. The new system, in which Islington Council has invested GBP2 million in total and which replaces the council's old CCTV room, will enable police officers, and the council's Anti-Social Behaviour team, to respond more quickly to incidents, and CCTV evidence can be gathered more rapidly and effectively.

Zvi Marom, CEO of BATM, said: "We're delighted to be involved in this exciting surveillance project, which is London's newest and one of the city's most advanced for reducing crime and anti-social incidents. Our solution was chosen because of its robust hybrid video recording abilities and unique video wall, and because of our proven track record in delivering town centre projects in the London boroughs of Hackney and Southwark as well as many others around the world. We look forward to contributing to the council's efforts to prevent, deter and detect crime and anti-social behaviour and enhancing the safety of the community."

>cumnor..... thats about it as you say boring but solid which is the best anyone can hope for in these times.
The ever increasing volume of reagents re supply looks like the golden egg to me in the medical side.
I am not sure how to take the news on the sterilization business plant expansion, there is nothing tangible to go on here yet but the company appears excited about prospects as they have been for some time... I sense they feel they are onto a winner here but time will tell so you can't bank "anticipation" !
Management statements are usually conservative but then again they have had a few wobblies along the way to turning this business around again and back into profit.

The Telco sector has arguably been de risked and can motor along under the wing of the Israeli infrastructure contract. There is a ton of business here but providers are languishing and unreceptive to essential upgrades and continue to provide their customers with cr*p service which has become the norm. There is massive upside potential here when someone pulls the plug out but don't hold your breath!

Not much else to say here the update speaks for itself.....

Very positive and downplayed ims but several significant snippets like the short mention of HB1AC kit which with a bit of luck could be big. Can see BATM being increasingly attractive to a medical/diagnostics company, given BVC's miniscule mrkt cap and cash pile. I believe the cash and property assets almost underwrite the present mrkt cap with little value, unsurprisingly given mgmts hx, being attributed to the IP and tech. The subdued market response, along with little BB action from rampers or derampers is imo a positive. Company doing the right things, albeit boringly. This is how it should be. imo

Looks like steady Eddy FWIW.... trending favourably!

Sterilization: The business is expected to move to a much larger facility, near to its current location in Hungary, by the end of May 2014 in order to process the anticipated increase in orders

For the Telecom division, the Group continues to see improvements due to the strategic shift implemented in the second half of last year. There is increased interest in its products from Tier 1 customers and it is expected to deliver improved results in the second half of 2014.

As a result of the above, combined with the initial visibility of the forthcoming quarters, the Board feels confident of delivering improved results in 2014 compared with 2013, with good growth momentum going forward.
