18/2/2021 14:09 | Two thirds of the profits are going to the top bankers Then 75% of what's left to buy backs which benefit the directors And the saw dust which is left to th3 owners | portside1

18/2/2021 14:01 | Why are the directors been rewarded millions The ceo since he arrived has just lied to investors It's time to vot against every director do not vote for any one of them | portside1
18/2/2021 13:59 | Our intention to start buying back before the end of q1 Everything this ceo says is our intention or when or if | portside1
18/2/2021 13:49 | Damn shame the FTSE wanted a wobble today imo. Murphy's law. | manics
18/2/2021 13:09 | EssentialInvestor: because imo they would then lose their banking license from the PRA, which would kibosh nearly everything. | manics
18/2/2021 12:57 | Completely agree, returns are poor. And if they continue will the aggressive branch closure programme why would people just not open a revolut or monzo account where customer service is much better on a virtual and telephony level. I think long term this will be an investment bank and credit card business | spoole5
18/2/2021 12:54 | Apologies if this appears a rather rudimentary question, but why don't Barc just exit UK retail and commercial banking?. Yes appreciate it would not be simple, but from a longer term capital allocation and returns perspective, is there not a strong case for this... | essentialinvestor
18/2/2021 12:54 | Absolutely pathetic dividend disappointed. Buy back tends to hold the price back 😴 | smurfy2001
18/2/2021 12:52 | Legacy banks will eventually be eaten alive by decentralised finance | spoole5
18/2/2021 12:18 | Looks like it will finish blue. | anony mous
18/2/2021 12:07 | Setting a 5p plus div sends a terrible message in this day and age with business failing and unemployment rising. Banks profiting from others misfortune and rewarding investors is not something to shout about | micronesiac
18/2/2021 11:58 | Keep in mind this is Barclays. With regards to the buy back it's not hard to imagine some special ifs & buts, some sprinkling of magic, a little fairy dust. You know what I mean. | manics
18/2/2021 11:36 | Diku - what bothers me is that when a price is "deemed" to be "low" and they don't buy back it would appear that they expect it to go lower given the market a "heads up"!! | forcemode
18/2/2021 11:32 | Mainly when expansion of the business would give a lower return. IMO a negative sign. | alphorn
18/2/2021 11:28 | That is the obvious belief...but the price is low against what benchmark?...the general market/economy?...be I've often wondered on what fundamentals a Company uses when buying the shares back? An obvious one is when they deem the price too low, anything else? | diku
18/2/2021 11:06 | My concern here is that BARC are out of ammo. | manics
18/2/2021 10:43 | Don't think they would be allowed to pay 5p dividend. | extrovert
18/2/2021 10:28 | "We have today announced a total payout equivalent to 5p per share, comprising a 1p 2020 full year dividend and the intention to initiate a share buyback of up to £700m." This makes no sense to me - but I'm generally against buybacks even if the share price is deemed to be too low. They should simply give us the 5p and let us decide if we want to reinvest the dividends if the share price is too low. This should be our decision not theirs. | value hound
18/2/2021 10:21 | I've often wondered on what fundamentals a Company uses when buying the shares back? An obvious one is when they deem the price too low, anything else? | forcemode
18/2/2021 09:48 | Post 5937...exactly...and those share awards are sold to pay their tax bills...you hear it every time blah blah blah......never understood why share awards if they are paid super remunerations....sal | diku
18/2/2021 09:43 | Don’t fall for the buyback nonsense. Managements always favour buybacks rather than giving shareholders dividends. It’s a complete rip off for shareholders. They back buybacks because their restricted stock awards, which vest over several years, do not yield dividends during the vesting period. It’s crass to suggest that shareholders benefit from buybacks - senior management are the only beneficiaries in my view. Salty. | saltaire111 |
