Wetherspoon chief criticises UK government’s ‘reckless decisions’ on Covid-19

The chairman of pub chain Wetherspoon has accused the British government of making “reckless decisions” in its Covid-19 policies.

Tim Martin said it was a “fallacy” that pubs will reopen on Wednesday when the current lockdown ends.

He accused the government of effectively closing all pubs in England “by stealth”, possibly for the first time in history.

Tory policies will kill small family farms off

"Anyone connected with farming will know that these policies will kill small family farms off especially in upland areas and that only those with huge inherited acreages will be able to afford to take up the habitat initiatives- people like Lord Somerleyton have already made high profile changes on land that wasnt fit to farm anyway. Farms will be sold to huge agribusinesses and those farmers who do own or tenant good land but have mortgages or rents will be struggling to provide the nation with food.

This policy is typical of a left wing dominated DEFRA and a government unconcerned about food security. We should be producing all the beef and sheep we need- permanent pasture is as valuable a habitat for birds as anything else. This policy makes mockery of farmers".

"Our farmers do a great job now. Our farming standards are the best in the world, animal husbandry second to none. So what is this about? Starving us of cheap food"
