10/8/2009 06:43 | I'm not known as a ramper but I'm getting excited about SYNC. I do currently hold ! Yoo! Hoo ! | wenlynn
09/8/2009 19:05 | Well done Lab. It's good to hear when somebody comes out on top. We were lucky with our B&B as I sold all we had at the top and only held on to the 250 they gave us each when they privatised, so we lost nothing as they cost us nothing. | kenbachelor
09/8/2009 18:54 | Hello Ken . January seems long time ago now when I first bought Barc. All those posts arguing with crackpot shorters as the price steadily rose .Well done to you if you still hold . Back in Jan I was desperate having lost £140k on Bradford and Bing and £50k on Zoo. These were my only 2 losers but I had nothing to balance them up with on the winning side and had not much money left. Then on 26 Jan this came out "Open letter from Marcus Agius and John Varley" and since I seemed almost alone in believeing them I put all that I had left into Barc from 60p upwards to £1. The rest is history and selling some from 150p upwards I finally sold the last lot when they first reached £3. Total gain of £130k. Much of this money I put into Kaz under £5 and last week I sold the last of these for £9.30. Well I got everything back which is fantastic and I still can't believe it. I used to sleep till about 9 every morning but now wake at 7 as I have for the last 10 months or so to watch the screens. I wonder if I will ever be able to sleep properly again but no matter it is a small price to pay for the reward I have had. Cheers LAB. | lab305

09/8/2009 16:29 | Bob - Yes and it's time he won another race. The problem is he only likes softish ground and when we thought we'd found it at Chepstow they had a deluge and cancelled the meeting because of surface water on the home straight. Trying again on Thursday. | kenbachelor
09/8/2009 16:09 | This is "Lordship" struggling with Ken's recent BARC winnings ! Go Lordship ! | wenlynn
09/8/2009 16:02 | Hi Ken, is this your horse??? Bob F Lordship (IRE) - Trainer: A W Carroll Foaled 17 March 2004, a bay gelding by King's Best(USA) (8.7f) - Rahika Rose (Unfuwain (USA)(10.8f)) 3rd foal, half-brother to King's Point, smart triple winner over 6f-1m at 2 & 4; dam quite useful triple 7f-1m winner at 3, grand-daughter of smart sprinter Rambling Rose. A 40,000 guinea yearling bred in Ireland by the famous breeder John Costello, Lordship was purchased at the Newmarket October 2006 sales by the Club for 8,000 guineas. Lordship came to us on the recommendation of our trainer Tony Carroll, as a particularly well-made and well-bred gelding with great potential. He was sold out of the select Newmarket yard of Michael Jarvis and purchased by us from wealthy middle-eastern owners. Despite several victories he remains exceptionally well-handicapped. The Club gave him the time and priority attention he needed and he rewarded us by winning at Warwick (12/7/07) on good (good to soft in places) and again at Folkestone on heavy. He was also placed four times and won nearly £10,000 in his first season at Group 1. Lordship had a well-earned Winter break. He progressed in Summer 2008, placed 3 times in decent races and was unlucky not to win one of them. He has returned to form in the 2009 Flat season, placed 4th at Warwick 18th June and will progress from here. | robertfaulkner
09/8/2009 15:47 | a question a bit out of context but perhaps an experienced trader could help me shed some light: hi all, been a long time since here I wonder if any of you have any experience with CMC ceasing to make a market in some shares. I fired an e-mail to CMC Markets on their FTSE re-shufflings and how they cease to make a market in a Smallcap if this is dropped from the index as closing client positions doesn't seem fair, does it? 'I have a question regarding the FTSE 250 and Smallcap re-shufflings. In some cases you seem to stop making a market in a stock if this is excluded in the FTSE Smallcap index which is ok. However my concern is that you close existing positions as well if these aren't closed by the customer by an announced date? This doesn't seem fair/right (unless i'm missing something) - if I place a futures bet expiring in December for instance do you still insist on closing it. And what about existing running bets - your only concern should be the margin - removing stocks and forcing clients to close bets doesn't seem right?' well their response has been vague at best!! 'Thank you for your email. Unfortunately I cannot highlight a set policy for this type of situations as we do this on an instrument by instrument basis.' so I tried insisting but to now avail - they actually want to phone me to explain, does anyone have any experience of this? Sure it will rarely happen (like the bite of a shark for that matter lol) but when it happens it could be pretty bad if they force you to close positions. 'If i have a spread bet running on an instrument that is say dropped from the FTSE 250 and you decide to stop offering a market on the stock do you ask clients who have ongoing positions on this instrument to close them? I can't understand what you mean by an instrument by instrument basis. The question is fairly simple (in my eyes) and I need a clear answer.' | guidfarr
