21/10/2020 10:12 | Those fretting about Britain’s record surge in borrowing should remember the International Monetary Fund’s view -- austerity is not an inevitable consequence of Covid-19. The IMF warned last week that governments should not withdraw their current economic support packages, as this would derail the recovery and be counterproductive. But what about all the debt we’re piling up? Remember, the UK now owes over £2trn, or 103.5% of its annual GDP, the highest in sixty years (when Britain was paying down/inflating away the war debt). The key issue, for the IMF, is that government debt servicing costs will probably remain well below growth rates. So if interest rates stay low, and economies return to expansion, the debt problem should start to melt away. | informant | |

21/10/2020 08:23 | It seems pretty damned obvious that the virus was China's plan all along. Similarly, although not by the means of a virus, the EU plan for their "United States of Europe" is their communist based ideology for the future of Europe, and beyond. Britain needs to take action, very firm action, in order to defeat these plans and it should start by weeding out the marxists and commies that have infiltrated our established order, as a matter of urgency. 21/10/2020 08:18 | We are being destroyed by a virus not government policy.. Sunak says of soaring borrowing: things could have been far worse "Whilst it's clear that the coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on our public finances, things would have been far worse had we not acted in the way we did to protect millions of livelihoods," Sunak said. "Over time and as the economy recovers, the government will take the necessary steps to ensure the long-term health of the public finances," he said. | johnwise |
