Autumn 1997 visiting Local Bank Manager in St Petersburg when receptionist asked if carrying a gun if so please leave outside in her safe. It seems 4 or 5 managers had been shot by their customers. A sign there was trouble ahead.

New Year 1998 Russian currency devalued by taking 3 zeros of the old rouble. (300,000 became 300). Huge fines if we didn’t re price stock etc and comply by New Year’s day. But first of the New rouble bank notes were only seen on 6th because government hadn’t distributed new notes.

Mid August 1998 sales went through the roof. Rapid devaluation of rouble meant customers spending hourly worthless roubles like crazy to buy goods to barter.
One lady bought a £200 coat and exchanged it outside for a jar of pickled cabbage to keep food on family table.

Bank accounts were frozen and foreign exchange stopped. Government and country in lockdown. We went out of business shortly afterwards

Call in Bramson and break it up. It is a club being run for the BoD.
They have ignored the instruction from shareholders, passed by resolution to pay a dividend.

The value of the Bank has already dropped by the same amount they have saved by not paying the dividend. A completely pointless exercise.
