Topicel would be delighted to see £2 but that's some 30p on the current share price might be a pullback on the results and then good recovery who know that's just my prediction,of course the pullback could be from a 10p higher share price before the results???

Indeed, and the football analogy is always a good one to trot out at times like these when clubs pay players with next to no talent or interest in the club and its fans exhorbitant amounts and then wonder why they fail!

Not sure but players get win bonuses but not, as far as I know, deductions for lost points and revenues as fans no longer pay to see them get relegated. Aston Villa this season springs to mind...but there are plenty of others.

My how we'd laugh if management executives at banks or any other major company were given pay cuts upon non-performance. But then, the argument goes, we'd not be able to hire "the best"...

Astol - still reckon £2 this week?

Who are these guys that approve CEO contracts and remuneration packages?...where is the claw back clause in the contract for underperformance?.....and remuneration committee members should also have a claw back clause in their contracts if the CEO underperforms....make them more responsible for awarding insiders with high salary packages...currently its one way ticket laughing all the way to their bank regardless of performance....golden hellos & golden goodbyes!!...

Barclays new boss's 'excessive' pay sparks anger ahead of AGM

Barclays is facing criticism over the salary of new chief executive Jes Staley as it prepares to face investors at its traditionally stormy annual meeting.

Proxy voting agency Manifest said Staley’s £1.2million was ‘potentially excessive’, giving the bank a grade ‘E’ for its remuneration packages – one rung above its lowest grade.

Ken the share price has had a good run of late from the 146p low,I don't expect good results from the IB but Barclays pre-warned 3 weeks or so ago,see the share price still climbing on valuation grounds and the forward looking statements from Jes Staley. well we'll see very soon.

Apart from the charts, there's not really anything to update this week as everything's waiting for the Q1 statement on Wednesday.

Every little sheckle I suppose!

Overnight the rumour mill in Japan hints at more support to bank lending and, predictably, financial stocks ended up between 4-5% amid hopes that they will turn better profits, even if still small.

Trickle through effect here could kickstart a decent rally into next Wednesday's quarterly earnings report for Barclays as the day progresses.

Agreed AndrewBaker, accumulate, as the jargon would have it. Most definitely on any dips and very definitely if it went back towards recent lows.

Like the miners at the turn of the year, this and other financial stocks look cheap after being knocked down too aggressively. Or maybe to a plan?

Another couple of pence tomorrow and momentum buyers will probably be attracted too.

There are some shares very well worth buying on the dips, and Barclays is one of them at these levels: you can bank on it!
