Well, my heart and investment hopes you're right astol, especially if the lead up to next Wednesday week sees the share price gain steadily. I just think nigh on 20% is asking too much when the wise words in the full year results won't have changed that much, nor the reaction to them. IMHO.

The volatility remains, with Brexit the major UK worry front and centre that Jes can't do much about whatever he says.

Topicel- I disagree not so much that I need to be right but I have seen sp's increase on clear forward looking statements, as its all about the future not the past and what Jes is going to do and how he sees it mapping out etc.We have not long to wait for 27 April, it appears that the fall this morning (-4p) is already back in the blue, so I see this sentiment building in the run up to the 1st Qtr results plus the market have been prepped for a disappointment in the IB arm.

UK SMBs can now compare transaction data and trends with Barclays' SmartBusiness service


Barclays is aiming to give SMBs access to market insights that traditionally would be the preserve of larger companies with its new SmartBusiness service.

The firm is launching the new online data insights service for its small and medium business customers in May 2016.

The service will be available to over 500,000 business customers through Barclays online banking

You may be right astol, but I think you are placing a little too much emphasis on what Mr. Staley says and how it will translate into a buying rally for Barclays stock.

Maybe over the summer it will become apparent his words are being met by deeds and long investors will begin to return, but it seems a tad optimistic to expect much movement based on his progress report and forward looking statement 'on the day', or even leading up to the day.

180p seems plausible and would be a signal the bottom has probably been achieved here...

brutus8-any drop in share price on Barc is a buying opp as these are well on their way to 200p after 27 April and Jes Staley's progress and fwd looking statement

Set against the China effect - and against fast rising oil demand in India - the OPEC meeting in Doha is almost irrelevant, though it could lead to wild moves in the short run.

As posted a couple of days ago 1st Qtr results will probably not be great but its the forward looking statement from Jes Staley that's gonna raise the roof on the share price

Johnwise -thanks for the links all positive stuff for Barclays going forward.I expect 27 April 1st Qtr to not be great as they have already advised on the investment bank side that it will fall short-however it will in my opinion be all about the forward looking statement from Jes Staley and we can see the share price heading towards 200p from here next 6-8 weeks my prediction.

Barclays not to hire new boss for investment bank

Classic double bottom pattern here. All we need now if for this resistance level to break and we should have an easy ride for 30% odd rise.
