Classic double bottom pattern here. All we need now if for this resistance level to break and we should have an easy ride for 30% odd rise.

probably some profit taking this morning following a stellar run up on the share price and other banks here and US, still lots of upside potential-buy on the dips :-)

These are signicant cuts.

Could this CEO actually turn around this donkey of a bank?

---

Barclays has shed 8,000 jobs in four months, the fastest headcount reduction in at least five years, as it steps up a big cost-cutting drive.

The reductions have come from a hiring freeze imposed by Jes Staley when he started as chief executive in December and cuts to the investment bank.

Correct Alphorn. And if the other US banks repeat the JPM figures - and let's face it, they were only better than the really poor expected, not stellar or anything - then Barclays could bounce with each Wall Street announcement.

Followed by their own better than expected first quarter, and, before you know it, we sit at two pounds a share and the shorts will be racing each other to exit.

More good news from China on Friday with the GDP backing up the production numbers overnight and yet more fuel to the markets to go higher. All good fun and games for them undoubtedly...

a forward pe of 10 is too expensive?
interest rates low.
crazy brainwashed investors.
Shares are stupidly cheap right now if you take a longer term view.
market could see 7000 again within a few weeks.

Time to get out? I notice that earnings estimates have been slashed again for 2016,EPS now below 16p, these are now staring to look expensive with a forward PE of 10. Too much uncertainty remains.

Smartypants - don't you think that being a major component of the FTSE 100 with a near 100 pt jump today (after yesterday's marginally down day) following the Dows near 165pt jump after our close yesterday may have something to do with it?

Not sure why the markets have jumped. Long may it continue!

Well well
A welcome rise in BARC share price ...but
Just as ridiculous as the sharp falls in the share price this year...no?
So..what has happened to all the reasons, calculations, predictions, estimates that those highly paid..trained?..educated?..professionals, annalists, traders...crooks where using to justify the 25% fall in one of UK's top banks over the last 3 months...they all just disappear overnight...thesame way that they appeared ??
As if by magic ?
Well yes a nice rise, but how do you now trade tomorrow..next week, month, if SP's can flic and jump around 3% 5%, or more in a day, or some times an hour , for "no" reason, then what are the rules and logic that you use to make your trades (investments) in the future ?
What are the rules to the game ?
