I would expect them to complete the current buy in, redeem their 2023 bond and then consider further use of surplus capital.

The conference call did not allude to any expansionary plans, so perhaps a further buy in may be favoured.

Are you suggesting the possibility of a special divi?

An excellent first quarter.

With a cet1 of 19% plus legal gain cash at the parent they clearly have capital to invest. Other than redeeming the 2023 bonds and the perpetual, i wonder if they have any other plans.

Where can I find consensus broker forecasts? Preferable for free

Consensus broker forecasts have been raised to 728p eps for the current year, with 9% growth forecast for following year.

I guess this reflects strong economic growth and declining inflation in the region.

Thanks, I missed that.

If the BGEO buybacks continue, CGEO's ownership % will rise, all else being equal. The sales seem to be offsetting that, for now.

CGEO seemed to have sold at least 500k shares this year. (

If CGEO is as undervalued as the management thinks and communicated to the market, it makes sense to raise cash to buyback shares, even if you have to sell BGEO shares on the cheap.
CGEO used half their buyback allocation already in two weeks, guess if they want to keep the pace (+reduce leverage) they need cash.

What makes you think that CGEO are selling?

Just a matter of time when the company is buying back 10-30% of the daily volume.
As soon as CGEO stops selling there won't be many shareholder left selling at these prices.

It is an extremely well run bank but it’s certainly a big concern, especially these days, that the Russian influence in Georgian current politics is certainly increasing. Id hate for the good people of Georgia for it to turn into another Belarus.

Big demonstrations against govt 'Foreign Agents' bill, an autocratic move which will make it harder for Georgia to join the EU.

FX gains are a staple part of the banks trading profits. They were significantly elevated in 2022 and in the conference call the CEO indicated that they are likely to settle back by about a third.

I thought the presentation was excellent, but then good news is easy to present.

Yep be wary of the fx gains 400m and the one off win 300m case that totalled 50% of profits.

Very muted response to the results yesterday after the initial surge. Hopefully today will be better
