LONDON (Alliance News) - BAE Systems has been awarded an eight-year contract by the US Army that could be worth up to USD3.00 billion.

BAE said that the contract, which was announced by the company on Wednesday afternoon, will cover the research and development of space, high-altitude and missile defence.

The agreement is for an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract and BAE will compete with eight other companies for future orders.

President of BAE's Intelligence and Securities Division DeEtte Gray said that the company had a "long-standing and successful relationship" with the US Army's Space and Middle Defense Command.

The company added that in addition to assisting with design, the contract would cover the "support of component testing, as well as the integration of prototypes into systems and subsystems that can be evaluated in a laboratory, or relevant environment, with limited operational system testing".

Shares in BAE Systems were up 1.1% at 648.54 pence Wednesday afternoon.

........Trade talks have historically focused on arms sales, but sources insisted the prime minister had not brought a full trade delegation with her on this trip, with no one from the British multinational arms manufacturer BAE Systems. In 2015, 83% of UK arms exports almost £900m – went to Saudi Arabia, according to analysis of HMRC figures by Greenpeace.

Trump’s Favorite Fighter Jet Keeps Starving Pilots of Oxygen

Navy still has no solution to recurring ‘physiological events’

Trump favors Boeing’s Super Hornet over Lockheed’s F-35C

As President Donald Trump pushes for the Pentagon to buy more of Boeing Co.’s F-18 aircraft, the U.S. Navy is grappling with an escalating problem: Pilots suffering potentially dangerous oxygen deprivation or a loss of cabin pressure in the fighter jets.

All F-18 models, including the Super Hornet that Trump has championed, have shown steady annual increases in what the Navy calls “physiological episodes,” according to service testimony obtained by Bloomberg News.
