2021 tip sheet blurb -

There's an extraordinary opportunity unfolding for energy investors today...
Goldman Sachs is calling it “the new gasoline.”
The Economist has called it “the world's hottest commodity.”
Energy experts have dubbed it the "oil" of the future.

Demand is going to soar in the coming years. The main driver for this explosive lithium growth is the rechargeable battery sector.

Rising prices of lithium, cobalt, and carbon are not a bubble. They are underpinned both by rapid growth in electric vehicle sales and tight supplies.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are expected to make up 35% of the automotive market and just as importantly, long-range electric cars will cost less than $30,000 by 2023, as promised by Elon Musk.

Prices for used EVs have dropped over 13% from 2018 to 2019.

Again, this all goes back to batteries, which have seen a huge reduction in cost that will continue.

Estimates seem to cut fueling electric vehicles in half compared with conventional gasoline vehicles. The cost to fuel an EV is around $1.25 per kilowatt-hour, while a gallon of gas is averaged at $2.64.

The average cost of EV maintenance is roughly $460 annually, whereas gasoline-powered vehicles cost over $1,100.

In addition to being cheaper, these batteries are also more efficient. New and second-generation plug-in models can go farther on a single charge than their predecessors. And this is key -

It’s a one-of-a-kind element, used in consumer electronics, computers, and communication — think everything from cell phones all the way up to electric vehicles... basically anything necessitating a compact, rechargeable power source.

And people want tons of it. The global lithium-ion battery market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate and reach $46.21 billion by 2022.

Lithium demand is going to far exceed production in the very near future and that’s led to a major jump in prices..

In summary he reckons the chart says it could go up to 100p per in January or February.

But he hasn't mentioned the Gangfeng EPC is due any minute now.

Ganfeng already have 50% of the Project and 25.83% of BCN. So isn't that like they get 62% of the profits anyway.

I think they is something to be said for not owning the whole company.

They can and will put money elsewhere and and it may be better spent increasing the size of the mine to 50k Tonnes per year or more.

Still if they take the mine over we are probably looking at 2 to 3 times the current share price

I think Gangfeng is a private company so you would receive money for your shares in the event of a buyout

Forgive my ignorance , what happens if a takeover occurs ? Do we restrain our shares?

Lithium America’s deal with Ganfeng is structured 51/49 to allow an element of control.

Our deal is 50/50 and interestingly they have already sourced equity funders in America for the new year as per the recent interview. I’m not so sure it’s going to get that far for Bcn.

£132m market cap with just over £30m in the bank makes this is a sitting duck!

It’s quite simple, Gangfeng will place a takeover bid for BCN as why would they want a small jr. riding on its coat tails.

EPC from Ganfeng was expected q1 2020, the q2 2020. Then q3 2020, the Q4 2020. Then q1 2021.

Still I'm not that far off not being in deficit on this share. And should be in profit q
1 or q2 2021.

I think the risk is nearly all gone as Ganfeng took its stake. M&G invested more to take their stake back 19.9% and the Ganfeng increased their stake in Sonora at the project level to 50%.

Certainly this money wouldn't be coming if they weren't certain to fund it and bring it to production. Then its 5 to 10 times increase in share price

No much out there with such prospects and advanced level of development. So I'm confident of the future.

Interesting one this one had this one right since the beginning, when are they going to produce some lithium? 7 years they must be the least motivated lazy mining ⛏ outfit in the world ,

I think Tesla is bringing the price down even further. They expect something like 50% cheaper within 3cyears.

Julien Geiger - New energy tech is undergoing a metamorphosis at breakneck speed.

Will you remember the year 2020 as the year of the superbattery? While this tech might be noteworthy, it is unfortunate that 2020 will likely be remembered instead as the year the wheels fell off the world and the year oil prices went negative.

While this is not a new tech, the cost of the lithium-ion battery fell to roughly $100 per kWh, which some analysts say will allow EVs to be in price parity with ICE vehicles.
Some have debated some of the premises behind the math. But one new battery tech did come to light in 2020, and that is a new anode containing pure metallic lithium, which has created a mad dash of automakers to use this superbattery in their EVs first.
