23/3/2009 15:18 | Hopefully this will benefit AXE in the not too distant future (thanks to malinkie for the heads up).BUT the price will go back up soon enough if that article is correct. | spekky
19/3/2009 21:35 | I hope so, just did a top-up. | puffin tickler
19/3/2009 21:02 | Tomorrow is potentially a very good day for those invested in EV related stocks.Mandy is visiting Tanfield (electric trucks etc) but dont discount Modec or Allied Vehicles getting a mention. If Modec/Allied are part of the LCVP scheme.......(why not)........then you just need to join up the dots. | spekky
08/3/2009 18:41 | This snippet from M.T.Glass on the TAN bb. from stv.tv at the Scottish Labour Party Conference in Dundee ...The conference also heard a call by Labour for the Scottish Government to back a bid by a Glasgow-based company to become Europe's leading manufacturer of electric cars. Labour economy spokesman John Park said Allied Vehicles, which make electric taxis, vans and minibuses, had asked the Scottish Government to invest £15 million which would buy 1000 vehicles and create 100 jobs. Mr Park said the batteries that power the vehicles are made in Dundee. He added that the firm wanted local authorities to invest in recharging stations to help make the vehicles viable for taxi firms and other companies. He said the £15 million would make Scotland the European leader in green car production. Mr Park said: "I believe they should get it. "It would give us something we haven't seen in this country since the Hillman Imp rolled off the production line at Linwood over 30 years ago and it would generate jobs here in this city." ==================== For 9 months the Allied Vehicles EV home page has been nothing but an email form, but it does now include a brochure download link (or use the email to request they post you one. I picked mine up at the CV-2008 show) The battery firm they refer to is Axeon (AXE) | spekky
04/3/2009 16:52 | Wonder if that is the one with the Axeon battery pack ,if it is, I would guess Tesla may be in for a hard time. | spekky
04/3/2009 12:35 | That RNS (DEC 08) from PROTON might be a clue that Tecnobus have found a preferred supplier (or cheaper? see last couple of paras). We should know soon.....fingers crossed. Also interesting that Tecnobus has a working relationship with a spanish company who are producing buses and are part of Indian TATA group. I think a deal with Tecnobus could be bigger than I thought. | spekky
02/3/2009 12:27 | Hopefully some news on the Tecnobus trial will emerge in March. Not massive in terms of turnover (probably) but should draw some attention from other bus companies. Does anyone know if the SMART car is a trial and what duration the trial is? | spekky
26/2/2009 08:46 | frankiestheone...... | spekky
25/2/2009 21:54 | spekky - yes | m.t.glass
25/2/2009 19:28 | even though the tests weren't as good as we all hoped for. it's a step in the right direction. It's also helped get their name noticed and they are in the right market, we may not get the surge but I feel that we will see a steady growth uptrend over the coming months/years | frankiestheone
25/2/2009 15:05 | Is this the article that triggered the speculation (and the Sky vid).? | spekky
25/2/2009 14:12 | spekky - I think the tie-up between Modec and International Truck (navistar) if it materialises (next week?) might not trigger many Modec sales in the US (some, but not many). The risk to Axeon is that Modec will find it politically advisable to source their US van batteries in the US. | m.t.glass
25/2/2009 12:55 | M.T.Glass - 25 Feb'09 - 11:41 - 51761 of 51776 If that scenario should occur do you see a knock-on here,I will agree its not a given but surely a possibility? | spekky
25/2/2009 11:18 | Thanks to ayub2006 (hope you dont mind) A video including Modec as a bit of a torch in these dark days for the vehicle industry. | spekky
24/2/2009 14:52 | You'd have thought they could have said something a bit more upbeat? | boffster
24/2/2009 14:09 | Me too (sceptical) but more news due soon (financial) so it could go either way.Not enough invested to lose sleep over so for me its just a seedling which may thrive/may not. EDIT ......WELL THAT WAS SOON (or a day late whichever your p.o.v.) | spekky
24/2/2009 12:23 | Yes - Modec boast that they designed from scratch (rather than working with established cab/chassis) They ended up with a 5.5tonne van, then looking for customers - instead of starting with weights that matter to fleet owners and working from there. If someone is going to pay the penalties involved above 3.5t, they will will want to carry enough to justify doing so. Modec's 5.5t size falls between two stools. I imagine they will in due course develop (or convert) other sizes - but only if they can sell thousands of the current model to pay for doing so. I am a fan of Axeon batteries, but am a bit skeptikal about this week's claimed progress. | m.t.glass
24/2/2009 12:13 | MT...I think you right . If I remember european rules changed to make anything over 3.5 a class 2 vehicle which incurs massive issues ref d/licences and taco's. CRAZY !!!!!!!!!! | aja5
24/2/2009 11:08 | Spekky....good find | aja5
24/2/2009 11:04 | Eureka.....found one perhaps this will be regurgitated by one of the daily papers......fingers crossed | spekky
24/2/2009 10:45 | Cheers Tel. | spekky
24/2/2009 10:36 | Hi spekky - congrats on your timely punt, i was too late looking in this morning so missed the rise, but have placed it on my watch list. I was otherwise occupied minimising a small loss on lloyds first thing. - I must learn to stay clear of banks! Happy hunting, Tel | itstelboy |
