12/12/2005 19:24 | Hello AJ....good movement at last, tho still lagging POG big time....your forecast?? | holdontight
12/12/2005 18:31 | Chart Break Out Time at last. | mr ashley james
12/12/2005 18:01 | He's trying to be a contrarian, but he doesn't realise that you have to oppose the general market view to be one, rather than a sub-sector of the market like us gold-bugs. The general market is still not truly bullish on gold, it feels like they are to you, me and biswell but that's only because we're tuned into the sub-sector. | goml
12/12/2005 17:25 | He has been playing the same record for at least a couple of years. Gold to $350 Oil to $35 Platinum to $700 Zinc to $0.30 (now 83c) etc, etc Odd game to play? | chipperfrd
12/12/2005 16:53 | I'm still laughing at biswell's comment that gold had topped out a couple of weeks back. | bionicdog
12/12/2005 15:31 | GGG the next AVM | johnma
12/12/2005 15:09 | Lets hope so | holdontight
12/12/2005 15:06 | When AVM is well over 120p, which could be soon, I would expect some corporate activity, namely AVM to use its more sensibly valued paper to buy in one of the promising development projects that it has been offered - at the AGM, Catchpole made a point of saying they had been looking at some excellent prospects. And judging by the unbelievable lethargy of many exploration stocks, prices should be cheap. A resource multiplying acquisition will, in turn, help to increase the share price. | pecker1
12/12/2005 15:01 | AVM is just better buy....full stop....ive never understood why any1 would buy it rather than AVM....no doubt some OXS bull will now tell me!! | holdontight
12/12/2005 15:00 | Saucepan, Yes, I love that chart. When it fully matures it should look like your name!! Good to see that AVM is outperforming OXS by a good margin today - in spite of the hedge issue. I guess the political uncertainty is encouraging erstwhile OXS holders to come to AVM instead. Chip. | chipperfrd
12/12/2005 15:00 | Oh gawd - I can take this from any stock - but not AVM - I need to go and sit in a dark room! | dixi
12/12/2005 14:57 | Ticked up again as I was typing | holdontight
12/12/2005 14:57 | Just be knocked back even further seeing the spread on AVM 110/111 - must be a new record? | dixi
12/12/2005 14:57 | Maybe small resistance at 120 ish, but then, chart wise, no resistance until 150p to 160p | holdontight
12/12/2005 14:55 | Presumably the deafening silence on here is due to the ringing shock of AVM moving up? | dixi
12/12/2005 14:54 | LOOKING GOOD | holdontight
12/12/2005 12:33 | This might not be a bad time to remind ourselves of the longer-term perspective: The chart makes it clear where we could be going next. | saucepan
12/12/2005 12:18 | Hot - I know from the NLR board you are a big chart man. This breakout above 105p, if it holds, would be v. significant - any view ? | supersturrock
12/12/2005 12:07 | The hedge is unfortunate, but the loss if wooden dollars. What is for sure is that you would not be able to buy at current levels if there was no hedge and what is also for sure is that it will be eliminated within 12 months. By this time we should be tracking for circa 300000 oz's per year and POG will no doubt be trying to take out $600+. In the meantime, we have a stock that is not over leveraged to POG which means we have some safety should and when the pull back in price of gold commence, which will probably be in late January, but that's just a guess | holdontight
12/12/2005 11:59 | The day starting to get interesting? | saucepan
12/12/2005 11:24 | When will the hedge be unwound? | references
12/12/2005 09:50 | Yes - Given recent dire warnings concerning hedged producers, that's enough to dampen any optimimism. This should have been dealt with ages ago, but it's part of the poison pill should any predators be sniffing around. | corrientes
12/12/2005 09:43 | Well AVM has about 50K of hedge left - so its still about 170K ounces over the next year unhedged. Theoretically it should rise, based on momentum and sentiment, at worst 170/220ths as much as POG as OXS have done (because in a year the hedge will be paid off.) But I guess retail punters who are looking for a gold play have been told to go for a fully unhedged producer and they would rather pay for that through a higher p/e. | wolstencroft
12/12/2005 08:42 | The loss on the hedge gets worse - negates the good news ? | corrientes
12/12/2005 08:21 | Doesn't seem like the market has much appetite for AVM despite its obvious intrinsic attractions. The price of gold will probably not drive this much higher. What is needed is some mould breaking news e.g. demonstrable breakthrough at Zeravshan or agreement with DYN to accelerate plant build etc etc | phillis |
