29/9/2005 16:21 | Sterling gold raging up £267.65 | yikyak
29/9/2005 14:00 | Previous high (intraday) was 104.85 on 7th Nov 2004, but closed at 101. Today we have touched 106 but it remains to be seen where we close. | chipperfrd
29/9/2005 13:39 | is this an all time high? | yam114
29/9/2005 11:56 | RSI means nothing if we are undergoing a long overdue rerating. | holdontight
29/9/2005 11:41 | Really good rise but we are well overbought (rsi = 80+). Still it is about time AVM poked it's head above 100p - and it has done it with style! Lets see where we close, and also how well pog behaves when the US opens. | chipperfrd
29/9/2005 11:33 | Well done biswell , you've done it again. | bionicdog
29/9/2005 10:33 | Surely, the short term explanation is a combination of the gold chart in the thread header and chart momentum reinforced by a key breakout, which a good number of people have been waiting on the sidelines for. The fundamentals story has always been convincing. If excellent news from Idenburg does come out, it will be a different proverbial ballgame. All IMHO | saucepan
29/9/2005 10:32 | wre need to clear and hold above 105p...then we can get really excited | holdontight
29/9/2005 10:10 | My take is a lot of investors simply got bored with Avocet (who can blame them) despite fully understanding how undervalued the company is and continued to watch with interest. Now that we are clear of the £ we should pick up some pretty decent momentum as they drift back in the belief that we are going to play Ketchup. | yikyak
29/9/2005 10:07 | scotinvestor, Take your pick. My preference is for the discovery of a company-making high grade gold resource at Idenburg. Drill results should be announced next month. Well worth reading the new Annual Report which is detailed, admirably presented and, IMHO, refreshingly candid about the operating and management problems encountered this year. Such problems are part and parcel of being a miner - the key point is how you react to them. AVM have restructured, brought in new, skilled managers and are beginning to look and act like a much more professional outfit. | pecker1
29/9/2005 09:56 | scotinvestor: have you read the thread? [Serious question. I am not intending to sound patronising] | saucepan
29/9/2005 09:48 | its above 100p.............why | scotinvestor
29/9/2005 09:48 | Have been watching AVM all morning expecting this breakout to happen. Interesting to see the trades accelerating now it is in progress. | saucepan
28/9/2005 23:40 | Andy Did they say anything about exploration at the AGM? | jk8
28/9/2005 22:23 | Hmm, I still hold (TMG) and have in fact added some more today. Costs are hrrific, as you say. But they must have a strategy to correct to have got further funding. Perhaps a speculative play (somewhat) on POG AT $500+ and no strengthening in rand from current levels, but nonetheless the rewards could be LARGE!!!! Weakening in rand as well and they could ROCKET !!! ........Couldn't they ?????? | holdontight
28/9/2005 19:09 | 100p+ tomorrow? Come on AVM. You know you can do it. :-) | saucepan
28/9/2005 17:33 | HOT, No I have closed all positions, their production costs were horrific. Moved money into ASX:PLA few months ago Cheers Ash;) | mr ashley james
28/9/2005 17:25 | Well if last year is anything to go by we should be up at around £1.25 in the next 2 - 3 weeks. (fingers crossed) | jk8
28/9/2005 11:03 | AJ...you still holding TMG ? | holdontight
27/9/2005 15:19 | Andy, Up she goes I believe Indenberg results out early next month I reckon maybe a rerating on basis of intrinsic value of Indonesian assets? Cheers Ash;) | mr ashley james
27/9/2005 10:05 | Saucepan, let's see if we can breach 100p, and hold it! | andy
27/9/2005 09:55 | AVM has just woken up! Interesting times? | saucepan
26/9/2005 10:22 | JK*, Doesn't look like it at the moment! | andy
26/9/2005 10:16 | I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the gold price. Avocet's share price corresponds to XAU 80 (measured from March) or XAU 96 (measured from November 04), so we still have much upside left especially as valuation levels are way below the average and could rise well above average levels. Remember, Avocet is one of the better miners. Few hedges, production twice the level of other miners compared to reserves, higher margin etc. I think far more important than the gold price are questions like Taror/Chore feasibility, Indonesia exploration success and the amount of dividends paid. | kojak78 |
